Where is the Best Sandwich in Houston, Texas?
I come here at least once a week to enjoy this great place. The food is simply delicious. I’m working my way around the menu and I haven’t found anything I didn’t like. I just discovered the Rice Sheets. These things are awesome. Will be coming back. Heard a Washington spot is opening up. Can’t wait since I live around the corner. Downtown for lunch, Washington for dinner. Perfection!
The Pork Loin Sandwich is my Dad’s favorite. I like the Chicken Salad. Picnic is a little cute for my Dad’s taste, but the cozy, come-as-you-are, sweet staff, and the basic fare where the old neighborhood grocery store used to be add a bit of nostalgic appeal that is easy to grow fond of. Let the tricycle parked out front be a warning that it’s a neighborhood joint where neighbors exchange words in neighborly ways at picnic table seating. The box lunches are also great for takeout, if community seating is not your bag. It’s so close to the sculpture garden. Last time I grabbed a box lunch to go and ate there.(great bathrooms)Pros + atmosphere, food, staff
I am a huge fan of the Martinique burger. Rarely can you find something so delicious that isn’t either completely overcooked or dripping with fat and oil. The sauteed mushrooms and onions make my stomach sing hallelujah! My hat’s off to he Hobbit Cafe for knowing how to do right by this once in a while burger eater. Some people can’t have a burger without fries, I see the shredded carrots as a welcomed change from the norm. I wash down my wonderful meal with a fresh fruit smoothee. My favorites are the Strawberry Kiwi and the Pina Colada. Sitting on the patio, I enjoy the weather before it gets too hot and before the mosquito’s start coming around in earnest. Definitely a wonderful place, that is, if you can find somewhere to park.Pros + Delicous foodCons – Scarse parking
I had high hopes for Kenny & Ziggy’s after having heard so much about it, and I was looking forward to a really delicious sammich. We arrived and were seated after a short wait, and that part was fine, as they were, at the time, very busy. Our waitress could be likened to a female terminator, not nearly as pretty as Shirley Manson, but definitely as deathly. She took our orders, but she was never the one who delivered anything, and she kept filling our glasses with nothing but ice and a few drops of water. In the mean time, I had the #1 Fiddler on the Roof of Your Mouth, and my friend had the Knish Knosh (I think that was the name, meat, cheese, and taters). His sandwich was delicious, but not really a sandwich. It’s meat and cheese served on a bed of knish…in short, meat and taters; how hard is that to mess up? Not worth $16 though. My sandwich was a let down. First of all, while they’re HUGE, they’re served on a plate they BARELY fit on, with a small cup of your chosen side (maca
although this place is trendy, the food is nothing to boast about. the quality is not that great and over-priced for extremely small portions. the wine bar is probably one of it’s better highlights, but even then, their wine list is limited and only offer decent wines. only go here if you are desparately hungry and if there is no other options to dine at for lunch or dinner. i try to go here sparingly.*Pros + maybe the wine bar?Cons – food!, pricey
