Where is the Best Sandwich in Denver, Colorado?
Just off the gutter lane of south Colorado Boulevard you’ll step across the Mediterranean and into the aromatic and enchanting palette of Damascus Restaurant.I have driven by it many a time always thinking “I have to remember to try that place.” And this ‘not so secret’ Syrian joint may come as a surprise to you if you’ve never been here, just as it did to me. When you walk in here, don’t be fooled by the simple handpainted walls, dingy atmosphere, the travel agency posters of the Syrian capital, or the Salvadoran cook in the kitchen. This place serves some of the best Middle Eastern food Denver has to offer. And if you think it needs a facelift, you might check your mirror because you probably do too. You’re not eating the walls anyway and if it were twice the price, then I’d complain about about it’s atmosphere. The menu is filled with all the usual middle east eats you’d expect, but you won’t go wrong ordering just about anything. The food is made on site, it’s fresh, deliciou
Being a Wisconsin “Native”, my girlfriend and I made our way to Chedd’s the first day we heard of it……..I loved this place before we ever got there. We made it there about 7:30pm and were treated like we were walking in 20 min after closing. A grilled cheese does not take long to make and the place was not busy. It took almost 15 min to get the sandwiches, when we were then, pretty much told that we needed to get them to go! (if you want to close at 7:30, then close at 7:30, its a restaurant not a bank) Forced to eat them in the car, I have to say that they were delicious. The selection of breads, cheeses and meats are top notch. On a second return, the service was still not that friendly, it seemed we were causing the employee problems for having him do his job, but it could have been a couple of bad days…..either way, it was the same guy both times. No matter the service, this place is still awesome…..nothing like it even in Wisconsin! Not to mention a great way to get rid of
Luciano’s turned out to be a rather ordinary pizza joint. The food held it’s own but nothing screamed out, “This is the best *anything* I’ve ever had!” The pizza was good, but a little bit too thick for my tastes. True NY-style lovers, I’d advise to try somewhere else. If you like a thicker, more chewy crust, then this joint might be perfect for you. Also had the hot buffalo wings. I can’t say anything bad about them. The wings had a good amount of meat on them, sauce was buffalo sauce, and bleu cheese dressing is pretty standard most anywhere in the Mile High City. They weren’t rediculously priced either so I felt like I got what I paid for and the wings would be worth eating again. The only big downsides were the wait and music selection. I went in during the middle of the week and I was one of two patrons in the restaurant. The other guy already had his food. My food took a bit longer than I was expecting to wait. Just shy of 30 mins for a pizza at a slow service time. That’s pr
This is my first review here, but I just had to do it. This place deserves business!I moved to Denver in Nov. of 2006. Since my arrival I’ve asked friends & co-workers where I can find a good sub / cheesesteak shop. I kept getting answers consisting of these little foo-foo sandwich shops that have the word “gourmet” in their names just to jack up the price of a typical sandwich I could make at home. I quit asking around.I found Pat’s Cheesesteaks, of all places, in the coupons in the back of the phone directory. I said “Let’s try it. It’s just a couple miles from home and absolutely can’t be any worse than those we’ve been trying”.I was skeptical when I walked in the door, I mean, the place is nothing to look at. Undaunted by appearances I looked the menu over and ordered a medium cheesesteak. Service was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. A few minutes later my cheesesteak arrived at the table. Anyone who knows anything about cheesesteaks knows that it’s all about the br
