Where is the Best Sandwich in Atlanta, Georgia?
My BF and I were headed to Atlanta for his training in Midtown. I had read about this place on the internet. Being a Virginian with family in North and South Carolina, I am used to excellent Southern food and I was dying to try all the vegetables and side dishes eventhough I’m not a vegetarian.I tried them all: The Vegetable Plate with green beans, field peas, fried okra, creamy mac and cheese for 11.75.(I’m used to “black-eyed peas.” For me, field peas are something different and what I was served at SCK were black-eyed peas. They were great.)And on a later visit:collard greens 4stone-ground grits 4crispy Brussels sprouts 5and green beans 4Plus the complimentary biscuits and corn muffins were excellent accompanied with the butter and apple butter.Everything was delicious. BF got the barbecue and thought that that was great as well.I’ve never had grits as good as SCK’s and the collards were out of this world. Ah… the grits… I can’t go on enough about them
West Egg has been a welcome addition to West Midtown. The food quality and value is great. Serving breakfast and lunch to a hip, local, artsy crowd with kids. Customers are diverse and have discovered West Egg is a small haven for patrons with kids. It wasn’t always this way, but has become more so as of lately. Therefore, as I prefer a quieter, more adult atmosphere I no longer frequent West Egg but do adore their grits and appreciate their selection. The basics of omelettes, biscuits, benedicts, etc. along with pork, turkey or soy options, with specials which usually include a Mexican inspired breakfast burrito, to caesar and teriyaki salads and unqiue sandwiches makes this eatery a happy medium for all. Making the experience all that cheery is their homemade cookies and cupcakes! Service is good, food is great and prices are fair. The nearby construction of the White Provisions complex makes parking difficult. Off street parking available around the corner on Brady.Pros + menu o
Ok Atlanta, are you ready? Havana has found a new home. We will be located at 3373 Buford Hwy, 1/2 mile north on Buford Hwy at the entrance of Northeast Plaza Shopping Center. Our projected opening date is January 1st!! The new location has plenty of… seating, and more importantly plenty of parking! With the extra space we have aquired, we have decided to add something special to the Havana experience. Friday and Saturday nights we will have a live Salsa band performing for our customers. We are looking forward to serving all of you very soon.
This deli has the best sandwich in town – the Cubano. I’ve eaten every cuban sandwich you can find, including at the Havana Sandwich Shop, and the Cuban at The New Yorker Deli is not only the best Cuban in town, but the best sandwich in town. The pork is marinated in something so that it is juicy and ridiculously flavorful. In addition to the mustard, there’s some other sauce that they put on the sandwich that makes it even richer and more delicious. I’ve literally had this sandwich 50 times, and every time it is perfectly the same. My mouth is writing just writing this. Pros + The sanwiches cannot be beatCons – Seating is limited, but you can usually find somewhere to sit
Growing up in Atlanta, in the 50’s & 60’s, Happy Herman’s was the only place to buy Kosher luncheon meats, Godiva Chocolate’s, and anything else a wondering child could want. Herman Mitchell owned everything on this end of Cheshire Bridge Rd., along with the original Dunk N’ Die! And it finally did. Times have changed, ownership also, but the memories will not!Pros + Original Gourmet Foods!Cons – Parking Is Limited!
