Where is the Best Salad in New York, New York?

Upon first going to Fred’s, I must admit my expectations were limited, given that I saw it as sort of a cool person/fashionista hangout, which usually means the food is mediocre. I was certainly way off on that prediction. Fred’s food is nothing short of superb. Everything is delicious and of high quality, and the presentation is elegant. The service is very polished and alert. The decor is sleek and pleasing to the eye, as are many of the patrons. Price-wise, it’s more than fair for what you are getting. Dinner for 4 the other night with a bottle of wine an desert came out to less than $200 (that includes a 20% tip), which isn’t bad at all for a meal of this caliber. Highly recommended overall.Pros + Excellent food, Polished service, Fun people-watchingCons – Can be crowded

I had had a very long day. My girlfriend and I had decided to go someplace we’d never been. We happened along Savoy and sat for dinner around 7:30 on this particular Sunday evening. We were led upstairs to a quaint corner table overlooking the intersection below. We ordered a hearty meal as to repress the stresses of the day. I usually never order a soup as an app but took the chance and was won over by the cream of garlic and pork sausage. Plenty of flavor and was paired well with a glass of white wine by the manager. The lady had delightful watercress, strawberries and pork belly, an refreshingly interesting combination. We followed that with the house recommended duck and the suckling pig. Both entrees were superb and finished off with bottle of red (that the restaurant owners produce or own themselves). I so very pleased with the service, the descriptions, and the food that I have made the effort to go back several times since. Keep up the good work.

I just read a scathing review for Niko?s Mediterranean Grill. With all the inside information given there must be more to the relationship between the reviewed and reviewer. Niko?s, and Big Nick?s down the block, are our Upper West Side close neighbors. These are long time eateries on the Upper West Side, with Big Nick?s (or the Burger Joint/Pizza Joint) in business since the sixties. There is no one in the area who does not know and frequent both places. Many people who have ?sat-in? or ?taken-out? of these two establishments for years now ?order-in? for many reasons especially the much older, long time patrons (?shut-ins?) who have their breakfast, lunch, and dinner from there. Many of us know the wait staff for years and ?Mr. Nick?, himself for many more. The food is consistently good and always fresh. There is little found that is gourmet in the extensive menu and the d?cor is a bit like our own crowded apartments after many years of collecting found objects. Niko?s is a bi

I went to the cub room about 2 weeks ago with my girlfriends. (Party of 6) We were promptly sited on the back dinning room, which transmit this cozy, beautiful and romantic atmosphere. Our waiter was an adorable Latin guy who embellished our ladies night out with his charisma and good looks.I was definitely surprised about the food; the special trout of the day was fantastic and the stuffed potatoes were delicious as well. The desserts where lovely and so were the ports.I wouldn?t doubt recommending this place…. I will be back very soon.Pros + sevice

For $6.95 you get a choice of lettuce and four ingredients. Extras cost .50 each, unless it’s one of the specialty items, like avocado or tofu, which can cost up to $1.50 extra. All in all, this didn’t seem so bad, so I chose tomatoes, red onion, red potatoes, and chick peas. I watched the guy in front of me splurge on .75 for avocado, just to have a tablespoon of it, mashed, thrown on. My problem here is the stinginess. I got about two tablespoons of each ingredient. One of my three potato chunks fell on the floor before being chopped, never to be replaced. Once it was all diced, it was even harder to locate my “extras” in a sea of mostly mescalun. After picking a soda at the register, the whole unsatisfying mess cost $9.95.
