Where is the Best Salad in Milwaukee, Wisconsin?
This is one of my favorite restaurants particularly on the west side – where options for great dining thin out. I love this historic space – it feels urban somehow but is cozy and warm. In the summer it’s fun to sit right on the street and dine at a linen covered table. I’ve never had a meal I didn’t love from grilled lamb to black truffle infused pasta dishes. And don’t DON’T miss the tiramisu. Our last visit was for a friend’s birthday (they asked when I made the reservation if it was a special occasion). No one mentioned it at the restaurant when we arrived, but the bartender picked up on it and said, “Oh, happy birthday – your drink is my treat’. And our server brought a complementary dessert to my friend – she just figured it out. Great service and unexpected. A real gem! Try it.Pros + Food, service, atmophereCons – Not centrally located
The location is in a historic building, the Cafe is charming, larger than the word ..with all the right lighting and fixtures. The servers are gracious, the food and wine list have always been well done. Ask for a table by the mirrored wall if dining with someone. Prices are reasonable.. The Croque Monsieur is wonderful.
I consider this more an adult/famly restaurant. It has a wonderful basic sellection for its menu, with specials daily. Soups are fantastic! My favorite is the grilled vegetable salad. Slightly warm with a most delicious, light vinegarette dressing. MMmmmmm! Served with a slice of one of their specialty breads.Choice of health conscious food. Like burgers made either from beef or groung turkey seasoned just right. Or salads, albacore tuna or chicken. Great oatmeal and more than one to choose from. Oh, lets not forget the desserts, pies, cobblers, scrumptious icecream (homemade).
