Where is the Best Salad in Houston, Texas?
My husband and I had dinner at Chez Nous on Sat, Dec. 21. We had the chef’s tasting menu. The dining room is formal, but not stuffy or snobby. We were welcomed at the door and promptly shown to our table, even though we were about 20 minutes early. The first course was a mushroom bisque. The flavors were well developed and not overpowering. The portion was small because the soup was very rich. (I commented that it was basically a delicious bowl of mushroom gravy, and if someone was going to put a bowl of it in front of me, I was going to eat it and like it!)The second course was a single diver scallop. It was perfectly seared and placed atop some creamy seafood orzo. Our third course included Chez Nous’ own charcuterie–a pate of cold braised pork shoulder that was well seasoned and served with field greens and crunchy baguette croutons. We ordered an extra appitizer of seared foie gras. It was served with fresh berries, a honey viniagrette and traditional French melba toast. For our
Great Salad Varieties, Love the Chuncky Chicken noodle soup, and they have awesome muffins.I love the differnet themes they do each month, such as fruits, food types (mexican, italian, etc.). The only bad things I have found are the following… I think they should have one side of the salad bar for when you first walk in and get your salad and the other for people who want to get more (Buffet). I usually don’t go back for more because of the hassle of getting around people who just arrived. 2nd, In the evenings I think after 6pm they should help seat the customers. 3rd, I think the new cost for the drinks is real high, so I usually get water. But, Go to Sweet Tomatoes Lunch, Dinner, you will not be dissapointed! The food is Great!Pros + Great Fresh FoodCons – Drink Cost is High, Needs a little more organization in the evenings
Waffling means to go back and forth…yeah, to the waffle station at Quattro. If you have a fat wallet and you are devout fan of National Waffle Day, you can’t go wrong with the Four Seasons’ brunch.Simple, warm maple syrup over a fresh, toasty mini waffle, makes one forget about filling up with overly-decorated waffles, bland pancakes, or heavy bagels from the regular breakfast greasy-spoons. Create each mini waffle with different fruit and fresh whipped cream for dessert, and order your coffee black to contrast the tastes. Kids can also order Belgian waffles with warm maple syrup from the children’s menu. The Four Seasons is known for their best brunch in any city, but I would only go here if I were splurging for Thanksgiving or Christmas to experience their lavish decorations and taste a variation of gourmet versions of traditional dishes. Brunch during the holidays is close to $80 per person and close to $30 for kids. Hopefully, you have a small family with a big appetite.
I have been a loyal customer of this little restaurant since it first opened. The Dharma Cafe to me is maybe more notable for what’s missing than for what is there-what’s missing is a predictable corporate layout with lot’s of pre-packaged food from Sysco or some other megalith food purveyor, mind numbing music played so loud as to require you shout your order to the server, and most importantly, isolated, disassociated, and uncaring staff. What you will find at the Dharma Cafe is consistently great food, which is always fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is delightful, and to the great credit of Susan and John, you can dress up or dress down as the whim suits you and feel just as at home in either attire. I am constantly impressed with the unique and creative creations that John and Susan come up with. Their menu is always evolving and the specials remain enticing and satisfying. On one recent visit, I was treated to a lovely seasonal salad prepared with fresh blueberries, pecans, gr
I used to go to Hungry’s a lot before the moved closer to Dairy Ashford – the food was perfect everytime, the service outstanding, etc.I went to the newly relocated Hungry’s on Memorial last night with my fiance and it was a pretty bad expereince. First off, we ordered their Jalapeno Hummus, which literally tasted like a petting zoo smelled – no lie. It was terrible! My fiance ordered the Capellini Marianara and Pesto and I ordered the Chicken Romana. After what seemed like forever, the food finally came out – her plate was missing the Pesto and I was given meatloaf. We quickly told them about the errors, and just figured it was because they were pretty busy. Another fifteen minutes pass and our food comes back. My plate was hot, and when I ate the chicken, I was immediately grossed out because of how extremely COLD it was – it’s very unsettling to eat “leftovers” during a dining experience. Also, I thought the chicken was supposed to be topped with actual artichokes and spinach like
