Where is the Best Salad in Houston, Texas?
When I’m feeling down, I’m one of those people who drowns in food, or more specifically, desserts. Enter Ruggles Cafe Bakery, a kind of dessert heaven that always manages to cure my blues. Located in the Rice Village with ample parking, a large patio, and window-facing booths, Ruggles Cafe Bakery is my low-key antidote to whatever’s making my day ho-hum. My orders invariably stay the same: a hot, crispy, lusciously creamy, super tasty white chocolate bread pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream – with just enough decadence to help me wallow in my sorrows and just enough sugar to pull me out of them – and a large cup of cappuccino with their signature chocolate dipped spoon. The dessert counter always offers numerous other mouth-watering dessert choices and I’ve tried many – red velvet cake, tres leches, chocolate cake, to name a few – but the white chocolate bread pudding tends to far surpass the others in its ability to bring me back to my happy place. Cafe Express has the healthiest fast food and is consistently good. This location gets busy during lunch but we’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes for our food. The salads are excellent..”Triple Deli” and the grilled salmon with sweet potatoes delicious! Their black currant tea is the best. It’s serve yourself at the Oasis bar – condiments like chick peas, olives, sun dried tomatoes, cheese. They also have a great wine happy hour during the week.Pros + Fast, healthy and good foodCons – Parking in Uptown Park
The Cheesecake Factory is a great place for anyone and any party to dine at. They have a great selection of food and good service. I love their burgers and I also love Grand Lux’s which is owned by Cheesecake. Both Grand Lux and Cheesecake have great architecture and a feel good mood when you eat and chat. What I like about Cheesecake is that it is 2 stories, and even though the first floor lounge may not be open during day time hours it will definitely be at night, especially on weekends. There, Cheesecake has a closed, open wiew balcony facing Westheimer unlike being right next to it; therefore it’s more quiet and you have a better view on the Galleria’s parking lot, across the street and of Westheimer. The only thing I would try to improve is the pasta, when I had it, it tasted average- nothing special, but it is like a casual theme- so it’s okay. Get there early on Fridays and Saturdays.
