Where is the Best Salad in Houston, Texas?
A new take on the traditional BLT fare, their grilled shrimp BLT sandwich is bursting with flavor. I’ve had this sandwich 3 times, and I’m stuck on it. They’ll substitute a wheat roll for the white if you ask. It’s served with a side of eggless potato salad. They use red new potatoes, and I like that it’s not slathered with heavy mayo. The Mediterranean pasta with pesto vinaigrette is also a winner. It has shell pasta with spinach, celery, calamata olives, artichoke hears, and feta. Ladies, the “small” serving is the perfect portion size.I normally eat here on weekend afternoons, and the one downside to this place are a few of the cashiers/order takers. How can I put this ever so kindly . . . but these guys are afflicted. Sleep deprivation, hangover, or just plain dumb. I can’t figure it out. I’ve been told the staff working days are on top of their game, so I’ll make a point to stop in on my lunch hour one of these days.Pros + remarkable sandwiches, salads, great locationCons
Sweet Tomatoes is my favorite place to eat! It’s the only place in town, that I know of, that is so delicious and healthy too! I feel like I have been actually nourished as well as just fed. The soups are the best anywhere, the salad selection is really fantastic as well. And the breads and muffins are to die for! They also have wonderful pasta dishes, and, of course, their delicious desserts! It’s making my mouth water, just thinking about it! It’s also a great place for kids. Whenever we take our grandkids with us, they love to be able to choose exactly what they want. Also, we know they are getting really healthy, as well as delicious food. My husband and I actually live in Katy so it’s a bit of a drive over! We hope they build a new restaurant closer to us. But until they do, it’s worth the drive 🙂 Juliearleen
Since moving to Houston I have found Barnaby’s on West Gray to be one of my favorite places to eat. We’ve tried the Barnabys on Shephard but like the atmosphere of the one on West Gray much better. My favorite is the Lunas Meat Lasagna……and the spinach is great too. My fiance gets the chicken salad and loves it! Keep in mind the portions are generous, you won’t be hungry when you leave. I eat a TON of food and I never leave Barnabys feeling hungry. For light eaters I’d suggest getting the half portion if they offer it, that’s usually plenty of food for most people. We’ve tried almost everything on the menu and have always left happy. My fiance and I never spent more than $30 when we go there and that always includes the tip. We usually get a couple of ice teas but if it’s a weekend we’ll get some wine and the price never goes over that. It’s usually under $20 with a tip. I’m usually pretty generous with tips though….Barnaby’s on west gray was actually where my fia
This all-you-can-eat restaurant has a great variety of food — salads, soup, pasta, pizza, etc. It’s great if you’re on a diet: you can make your own salad with low-fat dressing and have some great-tasting soup to go with it. And it’s great if you’re not on a diet: have some pasta or pizza and help yourself to the dessert section. The dress code is relaxed; you can wear jeans and a T-shirt if you want. The restaurant has a garden theme. Two thumbs way up!
