Where is the Best Romantic Dining in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
A++++++++ I can see why we keep hearing about the Afton House. My husband and I dine out often at high rated restaurants in the Twin Cities and I must say this was one of the top dining dates we have had in recent years. Everything was suberb. Chef Justin visited our table and we could not tell him enough about how good the food was. The featured Trilogy entree was divine and so was the Chocolate Creme Brulee, not to mention an Amazing bottle of Pinot Noir. From the Riedel Crystal Stemware (Nice Touch) to the fantastic server and her assistant to the flambe show (My Husband had the flaming Steak Dianne and loved It!) everything was outstanding. Thank you so much for a great night. I went with some business associates on a Tuesday night. We didn’t have reservations but they weren’t busy and could easily accomodate us. Our server was very good. She managed to be there when we needed her but she was not intrusive. The food was good but not great. Starters were well received. The mushroom rissotto is enough to get me back. Two of us at the table ordered the rissotto and after the first bite neither said much until the plate was empty. Two others had theScallop Starter and raved which prompted me to order it as my entree. Things went a little wrong after that. My scallops could have been warmer but I didn’t send them back. One person at the table stated there was so much going on with his walleye dish that he wasn’t sure he ever tasted the walleye or could say for certain that it was walleye on the plate. This is my first review. The Highlander has numerous atmospheres, each of which has a terrific view and is appropriate to your dinner plans. Their main dining room features features a rich ambiance for the intimate or formal dinner. Adjacent to the main dining room is a pub with a great menu of modern and traditional beverages. For those out for a casual dinner the outdoor patio is perfect for the summer locale. The Highlanders burgers are outstanding with variations on classic combinations. The entres are well exectued variations on general menu items and range from bar fare to fabulous steaks. This barely hidden treasure is much closer to everything than you would imagine while you are enjoying the view. From the time you enter the parking lot you realize it’s definitely worth the very little out of your way you have to drive to get there. This was my first time at Arezzo. This place was recommended by a friend. I didn’t make a reservation, but went early on a Saturday (5 p.m.). Lovely and prompt service. The place got busy between 6-7 p.m., but our service didn’t deteriorate. Appetizers were clamari (that was melt-in-your-mouth tender) and spinach in olive oil, garlic and pine nuts. Just enough garlic to flavor the spinach, but not overpower the dish. My entree was a pork loin chop stuffed with apples, italian ham and cheese on top of garlic mashed sweet potato and a cream sauce. Wonderful! Portion was exceptional, very filling, tender and moist. For dessert, three of us share the tiramisu. It was a huge portion. Although it was delicious, we couldn’t finish it. This wasn’t “done up” tiramisu, (I’ve had tiramisu at other gourmet Italian restaurants where they put orange zest in the dessert, which overpowered the dish).
