Jarrett’s Restaurant was not disappointing, however, the horseradish crusted grouper was dry. The surf and turf was fabulous, and the desserts were to die for (try the blueberry cobbler if they have it on special). The art of John Robinette is featured throughout the restaurant, and makes for an interesting dinner discussion. I would make the trip again just to view his breath-taking paintings! The servers were knowledgeable, and the prices were low. Overall, I would recommend everyone eat here at least once!

I took my best friend to Paulette’s for lunch last week and was dissapointed with the restaurant for a couple of reasons. First, the seating for two is so close to other people that there is no way to have a personal conversation. I ordered what I thought might be a healthy alternative wich was Salmon on a bed of spinach. The salmon was tasty but submerged in a thick white cheese sauce and the spinach was fresh….but deep fried. The bottom of the plate was soaked with oil. My girlfriends experience was really not much better. It had been years since I have been there and remember the food being much better. Just my opinion.

This is my favorite place to eat in town, and only part of that has anything to do with the food. First of all, its a coursed meal so it takes awhile. If you plan on having all four courses, Cheese, Salad, Meat, and Desert, then plan on staying for at least two hours. This is not the type of meal that your in a rush to complete. The attraction of a place like this is the atmosphere and intimacy. The lighting is low the tables allow a good deal of privacy and the nature of the meal means a lot of communal sharing and the pace of the dinner means a lot of time for conversation. The wait staff is incredibly attentive and the know the intricacies of the menu inside and out. Ask them questions about everything you order and they will give you all the information you could possibly desire. One of the best things about this place is the sauces for the meat course. They make up all the sauces for the meat course fresh. Ask what your server likes the best and have them bring out as ma

Please, I can’t believe people actually think this is a great restaurant. It’s a grill, glorified pub grub for God’s sake, and people are waiting in line to get seated. I just don’t understand Memphians sometimes, they actually come here to have a steak. My husband and I went and split a bowl of soup, each had a salad, he had tea and I had water and the meal with tip was over $50. To their credit, the salads are good, but my God, you’d think they were flying in the lettuce from France. Once in a blue moon I’ll come here, but I’ll never make it a habit. For those prices, you could go to a nice family-owned steak restaurant and have a phenomenal meal. Try Jim’s Place East.Pros + Good Salads, Friendly Wait StaffCons – Overpriced, Long Wait

Classic place. Great BBQ. Snobby service. This is a must visit for anyone coming to Memphis. Unfortunately, everyone who works there knows it.
