Where is the Best Romantic Dining in Jacksonville, Florida?
My husband was in Jacksonville on business and I went along. I searched the Internet for a good, high end restaurant because we love gourmet dining and great wine. Matthews seemed like the right choice but you really never know until you get there. From the moment we walked in until we were literally walked to the car by our waiter, we were in heaven. The decor is upscale while still being welcoming. The wait staff is professional without being pretentious. Our waiter was Jason and we couldn’t have been more pleased. He was knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and helpful. We chose the chef’s tasting and what a treat. Every course was delightful and the wines were superb. We eat at a lot of fine restaurants across the country and there are not many that compare to this one. The Ritz Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta may be one of the few we would rate as high. The price was perfect (even below what we had expected) and every detail was amazing. The portions were just right (consi
Our meal was very tasty – I was very happy with that. But at the prices they charge I expect good food! What was lacking – the service was good, but not exemplary. The server could not tell us much about the wine. Plus, the wine we ordered was of a different year from that on a wine list. My second complaint is the atmosphere – musak of popular music just doesn’t fit the environment.Pros + Good food, Large wine selection, Lots of spaceCons – , Expensive
The first thing I noticed when we sat at our table was the noise–and there is lots of it. If you’re up for loud music and a room FULL of people trying to talk over it, this is your place because everything else is fabulous. Food is great, priced to match, wine list is extensive, and service is good. But if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic table, or a serious business lunch or dinner, you might look elsewhere. Pros + Food, service, location, modern decorCons – Noise
Morton’s is not a premiere steakhouse. Perhaps, in Jacksonville, FL people see it as a place where the “elite” may eat, but those who know better, know that the best steaks are not in Jacksonville. The service is okay, actually worse than other Morton’s, even on a not-so-busy night. The steaks were cooked to the right degree, and the sides were mediocre. While, I am not complaining that the price of a steak is expensive, I am complaining that the value of these steaks are not the price that has been set. I’ve been to many steakhouses around the world, and Morton’s is definitely “just alright”. A good mix-up from the other restaurants in Jacksonville that I have eaten in. As a New Yorker, its funny to read other people’s reviews for such a mediocre place. In New York the Morton’s is a good chain steak restaurant, and nothing more. In Jacksonville, it is one of the most popular and well-acclaimed restaurants.Pros + Steaks, sides, nice ambience for a special occasion, prompt s
