We’ve been to Swingo’s three times. The first time was a weekend, and all was good – service, food, etc. The last two times were during the week and all was not good. The second time, the food was average, at best, although the prices (and the service) were much pricier (over $100 for an appetizer, two entrees, a drink, and a dessert). The third time, the food was a bit below average (calamari was great, but the salad was weak and the chicken and scrod were … okay, but not so great). But this time, the service was a let down. Although it wasn’t our waitresses fault (we think) they messed up our original order and asked us if we wanted something else. We did, but had to wait an additional 30 minutes for our food. All told, an hour and a half for average food and lousy service and high prices (one appetizer and two entrees – the two cheapest, by the way – equaled $80). Not that we asked, but we thought it would be nice to get a “comp” for waiting so long – no dice.In the end

This restaurant serves up steak and seafood items that are presented in a nice manner and that are tasty. The wine list is a fairly good size with a good variety. Prices are a bit high for both food and drinks. After placing our order, the wait was quite long before the main entree came. When it arrived, my husbands…

We were given a night at the Baricelli for our wedding last year, and stayed as an overnight getaway. The room was disappointing, particularly for the price ($200). We stayed in a deluxe room. The good news is it had a nice hip ceiling and lovely alcove around the window. The bad news was that the decor was sub-standard, particularly…

For Cleveland Restaurant Week a friend and I decided to try Johnny’s Downtown, as neither of us had ever been there. Obviously we had a limited menu to choose from, but that was fine with us because the food was fantastic. We both had scallops with fennel for an appetizer, which was delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked and just melted in my mouth. For our entrees I had osso bucco and my friend had pan seared grouper, both of which were very good. I also felt that the amount of food I had, considering osso bucco is so filling, was really generous. I couldn’t even finish it because I wanted to make sure I had room for dessert. I shouldn’t have bothered. We both order warm chocolate gateau, but afterwards wished we’d ordered the tiramisu. The cake reminded me of a grocery store brownie. Not the upscale bakery kind, the dry, flavorless ones. And they were on the verge of being burnt. What a let down. Sad that such a great meal ended on such a low note.Pros + Nice a
