Dinner here is over rated. menu is very hard to read as writing is small. Had sirloin dinner, was a strip steak full of grizzle, vegtables were ok but not what was offered on the menu. The only good dinner experiance was the corn bread. Staff was rude! Expence of this meal for 2 with tip and drinks was in the $65. range and I had to wipe my face with a cheap paper napkin. I’m happy to say that the River Street Cafe has consistently provided wonderful food and an atmosphere conducive to either small business dinners or intimate romantic couples. Reservations are a good idea, since they put on wait staff according to expected turnout of diners. On many occasions, I’ve found that drop-in dining works out for small groups without problems. The ambience is great, and I only have a few “nit -picks” about the food – for example, they have wonderful steaks and seafood, but typically only offer a mashed potato vegetable option. On occasion, some soups and dishes have been too salty for my wife’s taste, but not for mine. The lack of a full bar is only a minor problem, since they usually have a nice selection of wines. I’ve been going to the River Street Cafe for many years, and I’ve been pleased with the experience. I’ll admit that I haven’t been there in a while, but I can still taste the tiramisu in my memory. I had my graduation party there about 3 years ago and have since been back once. After reading the other reviews to the Ripe Tomato I thought I’d chime in. I disagree with the reviewer who claims the place is difficult to find. Its just off I87 exit 13S on route 9. I’ve driven past it more times than I can count going between Clifton Park and Saratoga. The food there is always great. I’ve tried many of the items personally and haven’t found anything I didn’t like. As other reviewers have noted the deserts are of particular interest and I have found that the tiramisu is my favorite. I haven’t been in a while so I hope they still have that. Nicole’s Restaurant was a wonderful dining experience for us. I ordered the duck and it was very tender served in a delectible sauce served with rice and vegetables. Everything was seasoned just right and I’d recommend it to anyone, even the pickiest eater. My partner got the veal and although the veal was very delicious and served in a tasty sauce, the portion was smaller than we had expected. The mushrooms that were over the veal were very much tasteless, but a little salt fixed that problem. We both agreed that the salad dressing was the best vinegarette we’ve ever had. For dessert we shared a piece of key lime pie which was to die for. I normally don’t like key lime pie, but this was delicious. The ambience is romantic and the service is friendly and knowledgable.
