I have been to this bar a couple of times. It is a good place to start the night. Our waitress was ok. She was good looking and that is important to us…haha. The drinks were expensive but it was worth it. One could taste the alcohol. You will find older crowd here. The dance floor is small and not many people will be dancing. I think it was latin night went we went. They played a lot of salsa, bachata, etc. The bar does not get very crowded. Overall it is a good place to hang out. Pleople in this club dress casual but pretty.Pros + nice atmosphere, pretty people, Cons – music was not very good to us

I’ve been going to Da Marco since 1997, so I’ve seen it grow and mature. We go about 2-3 times a year, and when we went last week, I was surprised to see more changes (no more shocking pink paint! plus a new foyer). The food was about as good as ever. I enjoyed an appetizer of roasted peaches w/proscuitto and taleggio, lamb chops, the wonderful velvety nocciola gelato; husband ordered the rabbit which was excellent. However, we made a costly mistake: our guest had ordered one of the daily specials – a pasta dish with the famous seasonal Alba truffles, not realizing the price was $85. And to compound the mistake, she had ordered some for her hosts to share, so the tab just for pasta was $170! Apparently, no one saw the price posted on the board, so be warned! I did call the manager (apparently the old one has departed?) to express my surprise, but to my disappointment, I got absolutely no sympathy, in fact, a rather defensive attitude. Still, I would recommend Da Marco, but for

Hermann Park is a rare and great grassy, shady area in Houston that everyone can appreciate. The space is huge and there’s always something new to explore, from the tree-lined paths to the numerous play sets with plenty of swings and slides (and be honest, they’re not just for kids). Go hand out with friends during the day, take your kids to play in an afternoon, or go on an evening walk for a unique (and cheap!) date. Just be aware that the park does close at night and that if you’re there after closing, security will ask you to leave, which isn’t a bad idea.Pros + Good parking, lots of stuff to doCons – Can get a little shady at night

When i walked in i realized it was an actual lodge built in the 1850’s or around that time. There was a river next to it and looked very old timely looking. The food was great in taste and style. The salad looked so beautiful i didn’t want to eat it! This place is sort of pricey, but worth the money. The only down side is the size of the portions. But don’t let it throw you off. ENJOY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Pros + Food and atmosphere was sweet!!!!Cons – Size of mealz 🙁

Le Mistral was a lovely surprise. I’ve had pretty bad luck with food in Houston, and French food in particular. But this really wasn’t half bad. The seared foie gras was very enjoyable, and the mushroom soup was nice as well. The wife and I liked our steaks (and we’re both incredibly picky about steaks, finding even most high-end steakhouses unacceptable), and the sides were quite tasty. Dessert was nothing spectacular but certainly pleasant. And everything was presented in an appealing way.The only weak point was the pacing. The food and check took a long time to arrive. There was also a small hiccup with the order. On the other hand, the manager (owner?) was very attentive and helpful. In any event, I do recommend this place, but perhaps only to those who have time for a long meal.Pros + foodCons – pacing
