Where is the Best Romantic Bar in Austin, Texas?
I was introduced to Cork and Co by a friend. The setup is fantastic; its a mature, quiet wine bar. Because of their designation, they can sell wine retail, so their prices are much less than other downtown spots. Buy a bottle, it’s very worth it. The atmosphere is fantastic and the music is ambient and unobtrusive. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint is that it was very crowded on a Thursday when I visited but apparently they are expanding which I imagine will solve that.Pros + Location, Price, AmbianceCons – Can get very busy
I’ve been here for HH many times but never on a Friday and we never have sat at the bar until this Saturday. My girlfriend and I had dinner here this past Sat. before we went out for the evening and our experience was a “first class, five star” service. The really funny thing were the two bartenders making us laugh because they were joking with one of the guest about not getting them two confuse, one has hair and one doesn’t. The “no hair” guy greeted us and took our order. He went as far as placing napkins down for us. He just didn’t take our order and ran off to make drinks. He made sure we were comfortable and satisfied before he moved on. My comment was, “Wow! VIP treatment”! We both agreed! Both of them checked on us and “no hair” made us an “Asian Love” martini. That was the best drink I ever had made with champagne. As we were sitting there, one thing we both notice was that everyone comes over to this guy and he treats everyone of them with the same courtesy. We’ve b
Great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere … but you’re going to pay for it! Sullivan’s is a lot of fun if you’re looking for something a little less frantic than the typical Saturday night bar scene. This is a place where you can sit back, relax, listen to the pleasant but unintrusive live jazz, and carry on a conversation with your friends or date at the same time. The service was friendly and helpful, and the desserts are fantastic. But, keep in mind, all good things come with a price, and Sullivans is no exception.
RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! I have been going to the Malaga for the past three years and have very much enjoyed it. I was eager to bring friends of mine one recent evening. However, that evening ruined it for me. My friends and I came in and were shown a table. As simple as that. When we said we were not going to order food, the waitress became visibly annoyed and left. A minute later, the host (the same that gave us the table) told us we had to wait at the front until a space was free at the bar because tables were reserved for meals. This was not mentioned by him when he gave us the table nor was it written anywhere. So I asked if we could wait at the table instead of moving twice seeing it was his mistake. He said fine then came back with two customers and told us to get out. It got ugly very quickly when I got angry and he threatened to get the police. We put him to the challenge. He left for a good 5-10 minutes while people were piling at the door and came back without the police. Meanwhile
