Now I can go to the French countryside anytime! LAncestral is as authentic French as you can get in Dallas. Even the owner that greets you at the door has a beautiful French accent. It is clear that the wait staff, chef and owner all take pride in this gem of a restaurant. The straw cones on the wall depict the French country side and the beautiful surroundings are tastefully elegant, but not too formal, so you really feel comfortable in or out of a coat and tie here. The French onion soup was a true base and unlike any other found outside of France. Service excellent! Food excellent! The owner a true French man (Warm, inviting, divine ) that puts the stuffy reputation of the French to shame!. A MUST FOR YOUR SPECIAL OCCASIONS! Try them for a romantic dinner as well or a refined business lunch ( it will truly impress!).
Al’s For Lunch Whether for lunch or dinner Al Biernat’s is consistently one of the top upscale restaurants in Dallas. Al is the consummate restaurateur and his staff is exceptionally well-trained and friendly. Al seems to understand the difference between providing good service (easy to find) and great hospitality (a rarity in Dallas restaurants). Well done, Al!
Great good, service at the level you’d expect from a high-end restaurant, crowded, and noisy. We went there for the first time yesterday on a Saturday evening. Beginning with the complementary caviar appetizer, proceeding through excellent steaks and the sea bass special, and ending with beignet dessert, all of the food was outstanding. Wait staff were attentive and cordial. We (my wife and I both) were distracted by the extreme crowding, though. There were far too many tables packed together. No one, including waiters, could maneuver between chairs without kicking and bumping them constantly, and there were only a few places where anyone could even maneuver through at all. It was noisy on a weekend evening, and the prices were what you would anticipate… without any alcoholic drinks, our meals together ran $145 with tips. Good place, but know what you’re getting into.
Four of us went here for a special occassion and we were very excited to try this place out. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, although due to a doorway covered by only a curtain it was a little too cold for comfort. The food was good, but not exeptional for the price paid. And above all, the service wasn’t exceptional for the price paid. We ordered many drinks on the night, and each time the server seemed to have a sly remark to make about it. He was very pretentious and assuming and by the end of the night we had had enough of the comments and just wanted to leave. For a bill of $450 for two people, you would think they would be more than happy to accomodate what we wanted, but the server acted more like our parents than an actual server. We were having an intimate dinner and were not loud or bothering anyone to warrant such judgement from the server. Overall the service can make or break a restaurant, and when the food was just average, the service definitely made this
