Where is the Best Pool Table in Portland, Oregon?
I was also a witness to this incident. It started when the “victim” got off his bar stool and approached another patron. He then told the patron that everything was fake and called the guy a jack-ass. It became obvious the two did not know each other and had no other interaction the entire time i was there. The patron went straight to the bartender and made him aware of the situation. The bartender asked the “victim” what was going on. The “victim” replied with the same word several times: Jack-Ass. After being ignored the bartender called for the door guy, who was very polite in escorting the “victim” to the door. At the door the “victim” turned toward the door man and attempted to knee him in the balls. Then the door guy physically removed the now getting violent “victim” from the bar. Although i myself did not witness the next few seconds I did make it outside for a smoke in time to hear the “victim” yelling at the African door guy and Spanish cook, “this is our country ni
My wife and I had a very nice evening here. The place is very cozy, nice and dark with a great old wood bar. Food was excellent, from salads to dessert, everything very fresh and tasty. Nice pool tables (NOT coin operated, which I love). The servers and hostess were all very friendly and helpful. My only issue with the service is that when we first arrived we waited a pretty long time to have our drink order taken and delivered, despite it being very slow. But after that initial delay the service was great and unfailingly friendly for the rest of the night.Pros + Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staffCons – Service a bit slow at times
By far my favorite bar in Portland. Despite a “hipster” reputation, most everyone there (staff and patrons) are super friendly. The food is super yummy especially the sandwiches and vegetarian fare. Although they don’t open til 5pm, it’s the best happy hour in town with dollar PBRs and cheap booze til 8. The place seems to get about the right amount of people on weekends to fill up, but not be too crazy. A great date spot if you aren’t looking for something super classy. Yes it’s dark and the music is loud but the tunes are good and they show movies with the subtitles on which is fun. The Hawthorne “barmuda triangle” as they call it is kind of out of the way but it’s nice to be able to wander around the neighborhood if you need to really kick your liver into high gear. I never walk out of the BOG feeling like i should have gone somewhere else. The place gets five stars and two shockers up for sure!Pros + good service, nice people Cons – smokey and loud
While I’m not a big fan of the restaurant downstairs the upstairs bar never disappoints. The upstairs bar holds several pool tables and has a relaxed atmosphere. Unlike other bars in this neighborhood it never feels like a meat market. I have always found the drinks and the servers here to be excellent. There is a small parking lot but skip it and just park on the street.Pros + serviceCons – food is only average
