As to the other poster, yes, $70 for 1.5 hours of on site service, plus an average of 1.5 hours administrative time to support 1.5 hours at the clients home plus 30 minutes each way, totally 4.5 hours for $70 was a total ripoff of the plumbing company. A well trained journeyman plumber is entitled to that much for his 1.5 hours of being at the client as well as the hour it took to drive to and from the client’s place.Owners of plumbing firms have a responsibility to charge enough fees to run a professional business and be able to afford to spend time with their family and support their family, and he should be able to pay competitive salaries to employees so they don’t go get a job working for the City DWP with full benefits and retirement. The rant was from a typical tenant who has no idea what it costs to be in business with liability insurance, workers comp, advertising, trucks, payroll, benefits including a 401K, legal fees, vehicle insurance, office rental, equipment purchase

We recently experienced a plumbing “worst case scenario”: Sewage backing up into the bathtub and toilet at 8 o’clock at night. After calling a couple of places, being put on hold for an eternity, and then told that there was a $260 surcharge with any labor on top of that, I did a search and discovered Buddy King. First of all, a HUMAN answered the phone. Said he would be here within a half an hour and arrived within 20 minutes! Was super nice and professional, knew exactly what to do, did a very nasty job with a positive attitude. The surcharge was only $100 so the total was about the same as the surcharge alone for the other place. BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE. When he was done with us, he went to the neighbor’s, whose entire apartment was flooded, advised her on how to clean up the mess, and hooked her up with a company to do it. He then got on the phone with the landlord and explained what he needed to do. Anyway, I can’t recommend these guys enough. A breath of fresh air in a world riddl

We called for an estimate on sump pump repair on a day it was supposed to rain, so Mike Diamond Plumbing apparently thought they could make a lot of money that day by price gouging suckers. After attempting to charge us $272 for an estimate on our sump pump that they originally said would cost us $76, they then handed us an estimate for the work they claimed needed to be done on our sump pump. They said it needed $2690 worth of work, or, alternatively, we could pay $6275 and replace the entire thing. When we checked around to see if these prices were reasonable, we learned that the work they said needed to be done actually costs between $180 and $300 (at least a $2390 difference) and that a new sump pump actually costs around $1800, including labor (a difference of $4475). To top it all off, we didn’t actually need any of these things – we were ultimately able to fix our sump pump (using another company, of course) for $125. After they heard we wouldn’t be using their services, the tec
