Hallo and welcome to Europe! If you are flying over from the States and only have 10days, I would seriously advise you not to fall into the trap that a lot of travellers fall into, that is trying to cram as much as you can into the few days that you have. In the end, you’ll only really be able to see the wonderful things you experienced once you’re home and have loaded your photos into the computer. Remember that you will need a day to recover from the flight so pick a nice place to chill out, acclimatise yourselves and rest! You mention Italy (good choice!) I would recommend choosing a couple of the larger cities (for the cultural value), then hiring a car (or better still, hopping onto a local bus) and getting out into the countryside (Tuscany, Lake Garda etc are beautiful: http://www.tuscany.org/; http://www.gardainforma.com/) where there are things for young people to do (
