where is the best place to hunt bull elk?
Every state has the opportunity to produce big bulls. States like Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming and New Mexico manage their herds for trophy animals. Places like Idaho and Colorado manage their herds for opportunity, which is not the best trophy management. New Mexico is far and away the best state to apply if you are out of state; they give the biggest percentage of non-resident tags and unlike most western states, you don’t have to pay for the tag unless you are drawn. I haven’t been fortunate enough to hunt the Missouri River Breaks in Montana but that would have to be high on anyones list for an Elk hunt. Gila forest would be great as well.
