As an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), I would say it matters less which program and more if it is CACREP accredited which affects your ability to get licensed. Depending on where you live you can look on the www.counseling.org website which is the American Counseling Association’s website to find out what the licensing requirements are in your state. CACREP is big enough that you can look at the CACREP website (www.cacrep.org) for schools or ask the schools in your area if they are accredited. However, keep in mind that there are also several similar professions. You could look into a doctorate which requires more schooling but results in a much larger paycheck or you could look into social work. Social work also has schools with accreditation, takes about the same time as a masters in counseling, and results in a larger paycheck (although not as much as a doctorate). Additi
