There are other places you can go to get a dog, but you really should go to your local humane society or rescue shelter first and look hard there. This way, your animal will be spayed/neutered and have all of its vaccinations. In addition to the Humane Society, as indicated above if you find a breed that you are attracted to, consider animal rescue, too. That is a way to save a particular animal of a particular breed that has been abandoned or can otherwise not be cared for by its original owner.
