Where is the best place for currency exchange?
Banks usually offer the best rates. If you need money before you can get to a bank (ie; for a taxi from the airport) then you should change currency in advance by visiting a bank before going to a foreign country. If your trip is too soon to do that, try to find the currency exchange counter furthest from the arrival gates. In the airport in Costa Rica, the first currency exchange counter charges about 5% more than the currency exchange counter by the exit. And even the cheaper ForEx charged about 10% more than the currency exchange at the bank. Many credit cards also provide currency exchange at decent rates. Capitol One is the best for that, because they don’t charge a fee on top of the currency exchange.
