Where is the Best Pizza in Austin, Texas?

Moved down from NYC in 05 and after months of complaining about horrible pizza, my buddy took me here to shut me up. I made it a point to visit once a week until I moved to SA, but always find time while I’m in town. Don’t even acknowledge the bad reviews, those people were expecting CC’s and got the real deal, they just weren’t ready for it !Pros + REAL NY PizzaCons – No location in San Antonio

The ambience is wonderful, the service is great and the food is excellent. We will go back in a heartbeat. It is so nice to have this quality of restaurant in Austin! The portions are very big. We thoroughly enjoyed everything, although the minestrone is a bit thicker than is classic and had no legumes. The salad dressing and all the sauces were excellent and rich; The boar shanks were so tender they melted in your mouth and the pork chop was thick and juicy with a fabulous marsala sauce. With a bottle of wine and tip (no dessert or coffee) we spent $75, but could have ordered much less and left full.Pros + Great happy hourCons – no parking

This food is delicious! I work downtown and my office was having a training so we ordered Take-out from Portabla. We all ordered these Panini sandwiches and they were YUM! They had basil pesto and provolone cheese…my favorites!! The homemade cookies were delicious! Plus, the service was GREAT! Let me tell you what happened: They forgot one of the sandwiches and I was picking everything up. I should have checked. I felt so bad, but since we were in training I couldn’t get back in my car to get it. So I called to let them know and the CHEF/OWNER agreed to bring it to our office HIMSELF. Now that’s service! Who does that anymore? I know he’s a new owner for this restaurant and I guess he’s aiming to impress! Mission accomplished! I can’t wait to go and try it for dinner!Pros + Delicious Gourmet Food, Excellent ServiceCons – I wish they delivered lunch to downtown!

Tried this place simply for the fect that it was rated high on this list (plus it has our hometown in the name). The sauce was like a canned spaghetti sauce. Cheese was ok. Mushrooms, canned. The menu was large so perhaps other items are better. The pizza is just not that great (especially if you’re used to a good pizza like in the east or midwest). Rudino’s is much better on 620 & Volente.Oh how I miss my Lou Malnati’s in Chicago!Pros + Service was friendly & attentiveCons – Not chicago style pizza!

Our neighbor turned us onto Rome’s. Their pizza is outstanding. The selection of toppings is the most extensive I’ve found in Austin. And when you get your pizza, it’s absolutely bursting with the toppings — they don’t skimp on anything. They have a chicken piccata pizza that is just spectacular. Actually, I don’t think I can pick a favorite combination. Everything that we’ve ordered from there has far exceeded our expectations. If you haven’t yet discovered Rome’s, then this is the time to get over there and fall in love with the place.Pros + Outstanding food, huge choice of pasta, salads, sandwiches and pizza toppings
