Where is the Best Pizza in Austin, Texas?
My friends brought us to dinner and said that Salvation has great pizza. They were not lying. I love the freshness and crunchy crust. 2 thumbs up for the pizza.2 thumbs down for the service. When I asked for straws as a waiter and a waitress were at our table, they both looked at each other, didn’t respond to my request and gave each other a funny look. The waitress finally brought back straws but didn’t seem happy about it. If you don’t like customer service, don’t work there! I wasn’t asking for them to bend over backwards. None of them smiled either. If it wasn’t for the atmosphere, the place would’ve been awesome. Too bad the wait staff makes me never want to come back… It’s a darn shame because that pizza is pretty gosh darn good.Last note, if you like to use Sweet n Low in iced tea, you should bring your own. They don’t offer it for whatever reason.Pros + Fresh goodnessCons – Horrible service, in dire need of NEW waitstaff
I don’t know how it could get much better than this, unless maybe you got a foot massage while you were eating your dinner, drinking your beer, and watching the movie. My favorite dish on the menu is the chicken pesto pizza with black olives and roma tomatoes. The salad and focaccia bread is quite tasty, too. One of the many times I’ve been there, there was a mixup with my order and I didn’t get it until very late in the movie. The waitperson was very apologetic, and our whole meal was free (including the appetizers that did arrive on time). But besides that one incident, the service has been perfect every time! Oh, and my favorite aspect about watching movies at this theater in particular: If anyone’s talking during the movie, just tell your waitperson and they’ll be escorted out. In fact, they show a clip before every movie that ends with “Don’t talk during the movie or we’ll take your a** out.”
My family and I read this and since they flew in from Hawaii they wanted a casual place for dinner for their first night in Austin. We went at 5:30pm on a Thursday night and there was ample parking. The youngest started with an order of minestrone soup (better than yours mom). The taste was authentic with lots of veggies. The 17 year olds split an 18″ pizza. The crust was thin and crispy with lots of pepperoni. The baby ate a 10″ pepperoni by himself. My sister and I ordered the Mama Sopranos baked ziti with meatballs. Lots of flavor with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. We also shared the eggplant provolone. Delish! Both the pastas could have been split and would have served 4 easily. My other son had the DiMaggio sandwich. There was lots of salami which he liked. It could have used more vinaigrette. The surprise was that it was served on warm homemade bread. The best value for the adults was the wine. I was pleasantly surprised Coppola wine was the house wine.
The pizza definitely has the thinner, chewier New York style crust which is really good. I found that the pizza was kind of bland though. My husband and I shared a large…which was more than enough for the both of us and we’re good eaters. My half was the margherita and he had the Philly cheesesteak. The margherita side was better (less is more), but it needed the sauce. These specialty pizzas were “white pizzas” and I’m not sure why. We ended up heating up some spaghetti sauce at home and spooning it over our slices which actually gave the pizza more flavor. Next time we’ll ask for red sauce on the side. Overall, it was quite good. I recommend it for a change from the usual chain store take out pizzeria.Pros + Good pizza; has the New York tasteCons – A little bland; could use more flavor
My husband and I went on a Friday night recently. I went in having low expectations, knowing it was a buffet style restaurant and in my experience this usually means a wide variety of mediocre food, usually overpriced because of all the waste that is taken into account. Keeping that in mind, I wasn’t really disappointed. I was actually pleasantly surprised with a lot of the dishes, and I appreciated that the “chefs” put out small, fresh quantities of everything instead of enormous troughs. We had fun sampling all the different kinds of food, though there was too much to be able to try it all in one visit. Some of our favorites were pasta dishes, like Rigatoni Primavera, Pasta Rossa, and Fire Roasted Vegetable Lasagna. I also really liked the rotisserie chicken, and the meatloaf with balsamic glaze. Some of the vegetables that stood out were the broccoli limone, the butternut squash, and the summer squash. All the salads where pretty good, and the little mushroom toasts wer
