Where is the Best People Watching in Houston, Texas?
I am an event planner who formerly worked as the catering and events manager at a fine dining restaurant in the Galleria.On the request of my client I booked a private event in the primavera room.I have hear from others that they were not very impressed with the food so I was hesitant to have such an important dinner with them.From the moment I called to plan the event the Events Manager Ivonne was always rushed and did not try work with me on the menu but I accepted that and moved on because my client wanted to do the event with them. We arrived and the room looked lovely and the service staff was excellent. However, that is where anything I have good to say stops. The salad soup combo was mediocre and served on a small plate and the presentation was nothing to write home about. We served the choice of a fish or filet to our guests. Another events coordinator ordered the fish and I ordered the steak. She said her fish was aweful and my steak as well as everyones at our table
Once you find this place it is wonderful. The food is a lot better than any other bar and the people are much more easy to get along with. Not sure if the specials are just in April, but this place has great deals for happy hour. This hotel bar is very sleek and beautiful while being intimate and cozy. In April, on Tuesdays they have $5, yes 5 DOLLAR burger and fries specials. And I’m talking Kobe beef burger with truffle aioli, truffle-paramesan fries. Yes, sir! There’s also a crab cake burger, moroccan lamb burger, etc. Delish!! For $5 more you can add your favorite lager or ale. What a deal! And, don’t forget the $1 martinis on Wednesdays. Parking is the downer if you can’t find something on the street. But, have your server validate your valet ticket to reduce if from $12 to $6.Pros + Food, atmosphere, serviceCons – Parking
We love this place. Great food – try the curries on Wednesday evenings, a choice from 7 curries and a pint for $16.Every week night finds some special, Steak, Burger, Curry, Meatballs, Fish & Chips, and all top notch food.The beers’s a tiny bit pricey – although you can always drink “lite” beer for next to nothing. Loads of choice, real British Ale and a British Boozer atmosphere to match.The star of the show is George, the surfer barman, if you’re lucky enough to get in while he’s working, he’s incredibly knowledgeable about what’s going on in Houston and elsewhere, and will always point you inthe right direction about what’s on the menu, and more importantly, what’s off the menu – there’s always loads of stuff not listed.Just try it.Pros + Great Food, great beer, and the surfer barman – fantasticCons – A tiny bit pricey but hey, it’s worth it.
