Where is the Best People Watching in Chicago, Illinois?
Chorizo stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. Yes, it sounds weird, but it was one of the best things I’ve tasted anywhere! This seems to be the item most people mention when talking about Avec, and know I know why! We loved everything, though. “Small” plates were actually very generous, and we stuffed ourselves on the aforementioned dates along with some…
The first time I went here was with my (ahem) “ex gf” when we couldn’t find the restaurant we were originally looking for. At first, I thought that place was cramped and old (which it is). But after tasting their food and drinks, I looked passed their cramped interior and indulged in their yummy offerings. I’ve been here 2 times after that and I continue to like what I taste. If you’re looking for that Latin cuisine “redux”, then this is a place you want to be. They have remade dishes from around the world (i.e. Mexico, Cuba, Spain, Brazil, and even Philippines) adding “traditional Latin twists” to their dishes hence making their cuisine “Latin Fusion”. Although everything on the menu sounded appitizing to me, I stuck with their seafood. I’ll be honest with you, THEE BEST seafood stew I’ve EVER had was their Shellfish Stew “Zarzuela”. If you like shrimp, muscles, and scallops then this IS a must try. Sure, they have beef and chicken, but try the seafood. Let’s not forget the
Samuel McChord Crothers once said “Try as hard as we may for perfection, the net result of our labors is an amazing variety of imperfectness. We are surprised at our own versatility in being able to fail in so many different ways.”This quote does not apply to the Wiener and Still Champion of Evanston, America.Gus, the owner of the Wiener has displayed exceptional customer service while serving the best quality food I have tasted for the cheapest prices I have seen. My hobbies include literature, economics, polo, and maxing out on Gus’ amazing burgers, perfect cheese fries, and absolutely the greatest corn dogs known to man.I have eaten at this restaurant on numerous occasions and never have I been disappointed by the quality of the food, the service, or anything else involved with the “Wiener”. The food there is like a symphony of pleasure taking place on my taste buds. I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving perfect food fast. I also think it should become an E
talk about old Italian rustic charm! My family love going to this place because of their great food and of course, their spacious, cozy and very homey arrangement of the place. I love their ministrone, antipasto and their thin crust pizza. these have become a regular order for us every visit. also love their chicken parmigiana, ravioli and frutta di mare. all their food is great but I have to say that these are my personal favorites!if you haven’t been here, you should drop by and see for yourself how great this place is. worth every penny!Pros + minestrone, wine, pizza, place
I’ve been to the park grill for lunch a number of times now. The service can range from just ok to quite bad, with some servers bordering on snooty and others being reasonably gracious but just not totally competent. They are almost always busy as well, so catching someone’s attention is difficult, and the waiters are not very good about stopping by to inquire about needs. Understandably this is also a huge tourist draw which might be the reason the service is sometimes not great, I’ve noticed that mentioning you’re a local is pretty helpful. That said, while the food isn’t super creative it is usually well prepared and fresh. If you want to sit outside and watch the crowds in Millennium Park while enjoying a nice salad or burger (which they have so far managed never to overcook!) and glass of wine this is the place for you. Also if they have them, try the squash blossoms which were served with a very nice goat cheese sauce. If you don’t have reservations and want outdoor seating show
