On the recommendation of 2 people, my wife and I decided to meet up with some friends at the Red Pearl on Saturday night. Figuring it’d be pretty busy, we made reservations for 8:45pm. We decided to get there a bit early, and wait in the bar area for our table. We were very disappointed at how long it took us to get seated. Tables kept getting seated before us, and when we confronted the hostess, they told us that they had reservations- funny, I thought we did too? A party of 8 even got seated before us, and I heard there reservations weren’t until 9:15pm. For the amount of time we invested in waiting there, we decided to stick it out. Finally, after about 40 minutes of waiting on our originial reservation, we were seated. They decided to comp our first round of drinks, which in my opinion was the least they could have done. Paradise Grille is a treat! I ordered the filet mignon which comes with asparagus and fluffy mashed potatoes. The dish didn’t look very large when the server handed me my plate, but boy is it dense! My friend had to help me finish my filet mignon, which was very succulent- as it should be. We came around 5pm and it wasn’t very crowded which was nice. I enjoyed the upscale, yet laid-back island atmosphere. Next time I want to eat outside by the firepit!Pros + yummy margaritas, calm, upscale environmentCons – A bit pricey

I’m a sap for a good meal and couldn’t wait to try Wolfgang Puck’s new restaurant. The menu is very eclectic and has a variety of dishes from lobster with a creamy curry sauce to sushi. I started with the miso cones filled with tuna tartare and they were to die for. After, my boyfriend tried the lamb and said it was amazing and I had the Shanghai lobster. So good!!! The sauce was unbelievable and had the perfect blend of spices. It was creamy but not heavy. We also shared some sushi rolls and I have to say that it was some of the best sushi I have ever had. The staff was friendly and the manager was very, very nice. I highly recommend this place. Also, the patio has great furniture and is a great place for some apps and wine on a nice day.If you go, try ot be there after the sun goes down. The lights glow and create a very romantic and modern ambiance that I haven’t seen anywhere else in San Diego. One issue is parking though. Make sure to valet or pay the meter or the U
