In ShortIt’s no longer just the swanky restaurant inside the Marriott Del Mar that’s getting all the hype. Brian Pekarcik is also offering some of his best small plates out on the hotel’s poolside patio. Bright red umbrellas and cool, white private cabanas give the lounging space a more tropical, casual vibe than the restaurant, as does the DJ booth spinning Latin and Caribbean beats. Servers bring out munchies tapas-style and cocktails from the bar inside.

This place was awesome!!!! My girlfriends and I went in there and had the best time ever. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing! We were planning to stay for dinner but then ending up having so much fun that we stayed there the rest of the night. They have this really cool back room that has a dance floor so, after dinner, we dance the night away. There’s no attitude in this place, just a great mix of people wanting to have fun.All in all, I’ll definitely go back to The Fleetwood. Pros + ambience, service, no-attitudeCons – wish it was closer to home

my sister and i went to confidential a few weeks ago off a tip from the concierge at our hotel. let me just say it was great!!! the food was fabulous, you have to try the ahi and scallops. we only had a quick bite, stayed mostly for drinks and dancing, but it’s definitely a menu worth exploring (being tapas and all). the atmosphere was very fun, kind of LAish, and the DJ was really great–he played everything from hip hop to house to rock. all of this was great, but the best part was the service!! Our server Cathrine was really fun. it was pretty dead when we got there and she hung out and chatted with us, giving us recommendations for the rest of our trip, talking about the cute boys that worked there and ALWAYS making sure we had a full drink. the security guards were nice when they moved us to a new table (they get rid of the middle tables for dancing) and when we got drinks at the bar, the bartenders were great. one of them juggles and he’s fun to watch. the end of the night was a

San Diego’s original bottle service, VIP-style club is back in action after a complete renovation in 2009. The entrance is now on Market Street at the corner of Sixth Ave, just off the Gaslamp’s main drag. VIP booths still line the back wall, but the main bar up front has been expanded and completely overhauled. Black and red accents, hanging birdcages (the DJ booth is now elevated inside a birdcage) and a long communal bar table now mark the space, in addition to a new performance area where everything from go-go dancers to three-piece jazz ensembles entertain the crowd. The club still has a working kitchen, with an updated menu of dinner options and after-work drinks and snacks options. As always, slices from neighbor Ciro’s (also remodeled under new ownership in 2009) are always available.
