This bar is the answer for anyone who’s tired of competing with overly-loud music and shrieking NYU undergrads. Not to say that the place isn’t raucous in its own way: the crowd just tends to be more laid-back than your average bargoer (read: out of towners who think being obnoxiously loud means you are just having that much more fun than everyone else). So: definitely a neighborhood vibe and a good place to have a few beers with friends. The bartenders, Matt and Justin, seem open to large groups and will reserve a section of the bar for you if you call ahead.Pros + Good food and beverages, warm atmosphere, no touristsCons – Slightly off the beaten path

I went to Stone Rose with a friend on a Thursday night. The ambience is good if all you are looking for is a noisy place with lots of men in suits and peroxide blonde waitresses with silicone in short dresses. It’s definitely not a place to take a date as it is too noisy. It’s good for after work drinks with work colleagues. The music is lousy and inconsistent swaying from contemporary rock to hip hop. The snacks are overpriced but below average. Surprisingly, the service was pretty good. It’s probably not a great place to meet people if you are a woman because most of the men clad in suits who were ogling at the waitresses were wearing wedding bands. If you are a man, the chances of meeting women are probably pretty high as there was a good single women’s scene. Overall, I wasn’t impressed but I wouldn’t say “stay away.”Pros + Service, WaitressesCons – Food, Music, Pretentious crowd

Very cool place to chill out and have a lowkey night with friends. The crayons on the table add a creative touch, and we made the most out of drawing amusing things on the paper table overlays. Our waitress was really cool and brought a drink back for us that was accidentally made wrong (ordered a vodka cranberry, the bartender accidentally poured a tequila and cranberry haha), without any trouble and we all had a laugh. We seemed to notice that the crowd consisted of many attractive women and few attractive men – which is great for a guy but not for girls! Good music and a laidback atmosphere make this the perfect place to go on a night when you don’t want to deal with the pretentious people that seem to infest the rest of SoHo. 2 Thumbs way up!Pros + Fun atmosphere, good service

Wasn’t please with the food, have had better, and for cheaper. And I wasn’t pleased with the extremely slow service. It took me and my friend an hour and 15 minutes just to eat a shared sandwich and salad. Besides that, I loved the atmosphere, the location and the waitress, when she got to us, was friendly and knowledgeable of the food.Pros + Wonderful atmosphere, great drinks, incredible coffeeCons – Slooooow service, bad sandwich, sloooow service
