Where is the Best Over-30s Singles Scene in Chicago, Illinois?
Hubby and I popped in for an early dinner on a Saturday…knew the dining room was full but were ok with sitting in the lounge-found a table in the corner. With the drinks, bread, and salads on the table it was a good fit-when the food came, it was cramped. I understand lounge tables are meant to be small, so this is a tiny gripe. I had the jumbo shrimp with the square pasta in a pink cream sauce and found it delicious, good portion. Husband had the NY strip, which he said was good, and the garlic mashed which I can also attest to being FANTASTIC. Hubby is a steak expert so steak was just an ‘8’, but he did enjoy it and it was cooked as ordered. Waittress and staff were friendly and attentive. Would return to this restaurant if in the area again.Pros + Food was very good-garlic mashed potatoes to die for!Cons – Table was really tiny in lounge-that’s all!
Ended up at the Reagle Beagle on a whim. Walked in with a friend and was surrounded by photos of Tony Danza, Tom Selleck, and the cast of the Love Boat! To some that may be a problem, but for the Reagle Beagle that is just part of the charm.A really fun casual place more like a lounge than a bar. I don’t know if the interior was modeled after the bar from Three’s Company tv show, but the layout encouraged great conversation at all points. The music was fun, the attitude of the wait staff was cool, and there was a nice mix of young and old in the bar.I would definitely recommend the Beagle to anyone in Chicago looking for a fun, casual, night out. I know I will be heading back soon.
English has some of the tastiest burgers I’ve eaten in all my 17 years. You can choose between a standard sized one or you can order 4 mini burgers. Along with the meat, you are served good skinny fries that I ate all of. The food is all in all fills me up right. When you walk in and get situated, you sit on bar stools with a table or at the bar. I don’t really have a problem will the stools but sometimes if you want to get on and off and around, it gets annoying. The service did it’s job, although the guys would constantly be like RIGHT THERE, eyeing whether we were done with our food. Pros + Food, Merry atmosphereCons – possessive busboys
The last time I was in, the door that opens near the elevators from the street was closed, so you had to go past the concierge desk in a big circle to get into the bar. This might be to reduce walk-in traffic, but it does create a cozy area for about a dozen people where the actual foyer would be.Everything is first class, from the selection of liquors and wines to the service – quietly efficient, not doting. You aren’t there to impress the staff, and they’ve seen it all anyway. Quiet even when busy, the atmosphere is sedate and elegant.Pros + Excellent service, Elegant setting
