Where is the Best Over-30s Singles Scene in Boston, Massachusetts?
The Metropolitan Club is first and foremost, a steakhouse, but we were drawn here because of the $5 burgers that we thought were going to be out-of-this-world. They weren’t. The Natick location boasts several burger varieties, with international references and unique options. The Chestnut Hill location, as far as I can tell, lists one normal Kobe beef burger on the regular menu (and costs $18), and three of the most popular “mini” burgers on the bar menu, which is where you’ll find the $5 offerings on Monday nights only. Now they aren’t called “mini” burgers, merely they are 5 ounce beef burgers, but a normal burger in the main dining area is 10 ounces. 5 ounces, for all you math majors out there is more than a quarter pound, and we’ve had plenty of smallish burgers that were filling (Flat Patties for one) but these were anything but. French fries? A la carte, and $8, same for the onion strings. A great deal? Hardly. I like the concept of global-inspired burgers, but what does Swiss
I used to come to Silvertone’s all the time when I lived in Beacon Hill. It’s a little hard to find at first, since it’s in the basement. When you do discover it, you realize how much you like the cocktails and the food. It’s not fancy but consistent and a good way to get something in your stomach especially when you are bar hopping on a weekend or even after work. Location cant be beat. My only complaint is that it can and does get quite loud and the waitstaff are ofter stretched thin when they get full. Which is often! Pros + Great drinks and foodCons – hard to find, loud, busy
My friends and I ventured over to HG after the Liberty Hotel line did not move at all. Conveniently located right by the MGH t-stop in Beacon Hill, HG offers a mix of casual and classy under one roof. The selection of males and females is an equal balance, and Saturday nights tend to bring out an evolving crowd of people either there to pregame, or there to stay, with new people constantly in line to get in. I have not tried any food ? stuck only to wine ? but my friends had mixed drinks and all the prices were on par for Boston. As a single female looking to mingle, I found a variety of men interesting enough to let engage me. I prefer when bars are most crowded to sit at the bar ? that way you can scope out the scene better ? and meet people who need to get drinks by helping them get the attention of the bartenders. Not a date spot because it can be too loud and busy to really get to know the person you went with. I recommend HG as a place to go with a group of people that mi
