Where is the Best Outer Borough Restaurant in New York, New York?
The best pizza pie ever. I went there two times only… the first they had a problem with the staff and I had to eat my pizza outside, with a cool wind. The second time (Oct 4th, 2008), I tried to call first to know if they would be open that day and if I could make a reservation, but I got the voicemail.Well, I got there and there was a crowd outside. I called a few minutes before and the hostess said that they were not taking more tables that day. As I got there, other 2 groups were included in the waiting list, after we spoke to the hostess… We left the place without the pizza and we may never go back there. It’s the best pizza, but my experience has not been that good…Pros + The best Pizza I’ve ever had so farCons – They can improve customer attention… they should!
The food at Ici is fair enough, nothing too great and perhaps overpriced ($12 for eggs) for what they serve. The service on the other hand, a complete other story. We strolled in around 3pm on a Saturday to find a completely empty restaurant and a pretty annoyed hostess/waitress who obviously wasn’t thrilled to see us. The service was slow and with the lack of patrons, you would assume otherwise. They didn’t check on us ONCE and they only filled our water ONCE and it was one of the hottest days in New York City. The shirred eggs are great, sure, but don’t go out of your way to have them…baked eggs aren’t hard to find these days.
My boyfriend and I went for our very first time and we were very pleased. We started off with a few slices of bacon and a sliced tomato. I’m not one to balk at the price of food when it’s truly delicious, but I’m still not sure why a tomato was $13. It was flawless looking, yes, but it didn’t have a wonderful flavor and it was JUST tomato. Next time we’re just going to get extra bacon because that was the best double cut bacon I’ve ever had. We decided to get the porterhouse for 2 and a ribeye. Both were excellent. They were the best non-kobe steaks I’ve ever had. My boyfriend doesn’t drink and they don’t serve wine by the glass, so I ordered the 1/2 bottle of Cab for myself. It was very overpriced at $39. I won’t bother with any wine next time. The bread basket was wonderful. It was really a great selection. We ordered fries and creamed spinach for our sides. The fries didn’t look very good and they tasted about the same, but that might have been the best creamed spinach I’ve ever had
We are long time fans of D.O.C. and finally made it to P.T. for a truly remarkable dining experience. This restaurant truly has it all. The design of the place is stunning without being austere. From the detail of the bathroom light switch, to the bread served in a brown paper lunch sack, to the silver ware placed on individual grey stones, it is a warm and delightful place to have dinner. The staff is remarkable. Don’t expect French service, expect an authentic Italian dinning experience. This is the real deal. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable about the unique wine list and incredible food. If you are lucky, you might get a bear hug from the chef who comes out to see how people are enjoying their meal! My favorite items were the special appetizers of a single ravioli stuffed with venison and the shrimp salad with fennel which was refreshing and tasty. The en trees were also wonderful. The home made Tagliatelle pasta dish with a boar chocolate ragout was incredible.
