Where is the Best Outdoor Bar in St. Louis, Missouri?
The patio is beautiful and the ambiance inside and out is lovely. The food is “good” but noting to write home about. I recommend going here for drinks and socializing more then dinning. I have had more then one bad experience with the service. I am a very nice customer and a great tipper – but I have had three servers treat me with a very snobby attitude. The first time we went we had a group of about 8 girls. We just wanted some light appetizers as it was late at night and lots of drinks. We were treated very poorly… as if they thought we weren’t spending enough money/ordering enough food/or weren’t going to tip well. WRONG. We spent lots of money and would have tipped great if anyone had EVER been nice to us; we’re no fools, we don’t tip servers that are rude. And the servers changed during our meal and the first AND second server treated us the same way. I went there for a anniversary dinner with just my boyfriend and ordered drinks and app.’s and a meal and had a coupon
Humphrey’s is a 30 year survivor serving consistently good bar food and drinks at reasonable prices. Late night is definitely a college/young professional crowd but Humphrey’s longevity has produced an eclectic lunch crowd of professionals at the tables (former students, who now occasionally bring in their kids for a burger) and construction workers eating at the bar. If it is REALLY packed at lunch it may take some time to get your food, but they usually let you know that. I have been going there with sporadic regularity for almost 20 years, and still (retired now) meet friends there before ball games and the occasional lunch or happy hour. This is one of those places where I always look at the menu then order the same thing: for me, the patty melt is the one, with the bread grilled toasty brown, the cheese melted perfectly and the beef consistently tasty: YUM! I usually order a half order (how many places can you do THAT?!) of regular fries to replace the potato chips that come wit
This place is great. Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere! They have the BEST patio in St. Louis. When eating in side it is like you are transported to Ireland. They play Irish music and have Irish bands in on certain nights. Now the food. They have bar snack to gourmet steaks, and just about everything in between. You have to order the Irish chips, they are homemade potato chips and you can get a basket of them. It is a really neat place just to have some chips and a beer and people watch or a great place to have a romantic dinner for two. When we go out this is always the first place everyone mentions. You have to try John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub.Pros + Great Food, Great Patio, Good Beer SelectionCons – , Can be crowded, Inside can be smokey
The Oyster bar has great Creole food and usually some good music, but it is never on my radar. Perhaps because it is all the way downtown. That’s no excuse though because I live in the city. The service is always a little slow when I have been there, and that is horrible when you are waiting for your fried alligator and jambalaya. The patio is nice, especially if it starts to rain because it is covered. The next time it pops into my head as a place to grab dinner and a couple drinks I’ll be there. A heads up, if you get there a little later, chances are that you will have to pay a cover for the band that is playing.
