Where is the Best Off-The-Wall Date Spot in New York, New York?
I love this bar and go there a lot but on a Thursday, after work around 8pm, you expect to be able to go and have a drink. Lo and behold, there’s a private reading, no signs to tell you this and a nasty woman coming outside to tell you to “keep it down…” There is no indication that a reading is going on, unless you peer through the window of the door to the bar, and we weren’t being loud, we just didn’t know why our favorite bar wasn’t accessible… I probably will have to call ahead first, which is totally ridiculous…. gimme a break!Pros + Great place to chat, cheap drinksCons – terrible service, bartender asleep, random readings
This could be a great venue, if it weren’t for : 1. the terrible (slow, dismissive) bar service 2: the terrible (tasteless, lukewarm) food. I felt a bit scammed. It’s a shame, because the shows I’ve seen there have been great, but in general the place is getting a bit grim and shoddy, which is not going to help their performers and artists. They were missing a lot of things on the menu and wine-list. I think hard times are apon them. Don’t take your out-of-towners there.

i love going to cities and trying atypical things. this is certainly one of them. i had a blast. i didn’t attend the class with anyone but made friends easily. the staff was very nice, funny and helpful with regards to helping us learn the basic stuff. i’m not afraid of heights but my nerves did get the best of me each time i stood on top of the platform, looked out at the Hudson and thought about the task at hand, with the breeze blowing. you just go for it and listen/follow the instructions and then, VOILA!, you are done. this is such an exhilirating feeling! my only wish is that they would open a school closer to me in Atlanta. i would do this every weekend!Pros + outside location, knowledgeable staff, can-do atmosphereCons – wish that they would open a school in Atlanta
We had our engadgement party here and it was a complete debacle…..The owners (husband and wife) should be con artists….When we first booked the party me and my wife dealt with issues like wine selection and limiting the amount of whites because most guests wanted reds. This was a huge mess and they were not very helpful at all. We were assured that there would be open bar for wine and unlimted food. They went off about how there will be venison, sausages , dried meats and never an empty glass. Fast forward to the party day …… The owner (the husband) goes up to my wife to be and confronts her…making her very upset…which REALLY ticked me off. They had no prof. or manners. He said we had consumed too much food and double the wine he anticipated…I handed him my card and said do whatever it takes to keep ppl happy. They ultimatley charged WAYYYY more than they said and also kicked us out on the dot. they were rude, cheap and need a serious training class in manners! You should
