Where is the Best Off-The-Wall Date Spot in Los Angeles, California?
One of my best amusement park memories was the first time I visited Universal Studios as a child and Frankenstein sat next to me on the back lot tour tram. It was weird, a little uncomfortable, but very funny. Although the park has changed drastically over the last few decades, it still retains it’s original spirit…celebration of film. The rides/attractions are more clever than ever. I have family that come from Hawaii, and Universal is their first stop…even before Disneland and Knotts. If you’ve never been, go spend a day at the “movies”.
I have only been to Pinz a couple of times with some old friends of mine. They tell me that Shaq, the basketball player, used to play at this bowling alley when he was still with the Lakers. Anyway, I thought their laser lights and glow in the dark pins were pretty cool. They also have lots of arcade games, pool tables and air hockey. They have leagues as well.
There are almost no words to describe this place. From the skeleton of a European mole to a miniature, lit-up model of a trailer park, the exhibits and displays in this museum range from incredible to useless to decaying and broken. It’s almost pitch black in there and kind of maze-like, and once you’re in you’ll be caught in a world of weird you never saw coming from the outside. My favorite is the room dedicated to the canines of the Russian space progam, complete with a painted portrait of each pooch. Everything in here is bizarre, though not everything is completely baffling or incredible in the Ripley’s tradition. This is more of an experience, where you have to wonder why these things are even in a glass case to begin with. Half of it is unlabeled or broken, and I still don’t know if that’s intentional or the result of minimal upkeep. An enigma at the very least, and one you might want to try bending your mind around on a rainy day. Pros + If you like weird, you’ll love this p
What was I thinking?Having been a patron of Clearman’s Northwoods inn for over 20 years, One would imagine that I had seen the cobb salad at least once before I ordered it.. But I must have stepped away or never noticed when someone else ordered it.Loving a good cobb salad, I ordered when I was with our party of 6 and got more than a few snickers when I did so..(obviously they had seen the monster before), when asked if I was hungry I answered in the affirmative.. and awaited the delight that eventually came. This BIG BOWL of Cobb salad was enough to feed everyone at the table and every person I ever met.. Okay so I exaggerate, but it was huge.. On my best day, I couldn’t tackle this beauty of a salad, with all the usual ingredients of a Cobb salad, despite my forks of fury shoveling in the salad, each bite left me further and further from the bottom of the bowl… try as I may, It beat me…. but what a great salad for a small party of 6 or more.Or one really, really hungry Basket
I saw some negative reviews online before my boyfriend and I went to Dinner in the Dark (but after it was too late to cancel the reservation – 3 days notice required) so I was really nervous and braced myself for a doomed evening on August 24, 2007. In fact when my boyfriend ordered steak, I almost told him to order something else because of the bad steak reviews. Fortunately, my salmon was perfect and his medium rare steak was prepared exactly medium rare – and it was probably one of the top 5 BEST steaks I have ever tasted. The tiramisu was lightly sweet and scrumptous, while the cheesecake was quite flavorful, and also a bit heavy – but that’s exactly what cheesecake is supposed to be afterall, right? Also, all the food was served at the proper temperature, nothing was frozen or lukewarm. And everything you’ve already read about the “dark” experience is probably true: Yes, it is pitch black, yes your senses are extremely heightened, yes our server was blind (not blindfolded, actual
