Karoun on a Friday or Saturday night is a celebration! Families, parties, groups of friends gathering to enjoy one of the most festive dining spots around Boston. Very good food, good drinks, and the kind of personal service you find in a family owned/operated restaurant. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there and everybody had a great time–from the flower girls (enthralled by the belly dancer) to the Father of the Bride (also enthralled by the belly dancer–always a tasteful show). We recently ate at Bella Luna with another couple from the North Shore and the food, service and value was SO worth it, parking wasn’t the easiest, but neither is the North End or South Boston or Charlestown so why complain now? Don’t have pizza, go for the entrees, they’re superb! The food is FABULOUS and we will be returning quite often to share this hidden jewel with others. I had the braised ribs which fell off the bone and just melt in your mouth, they were more than accomodating when I wanted mashed potatoes instead of squash and my water glass was never empty! Give this place a try, we’re SO very glad we did!!Pros + excellent food, great valueCons – parking – but what else is new?
Located in the former Loews Cheri cinema, this sprawling subterranean hangout offers various activities to a diverse clientele. By day, an all-ages crowd relaxes while enjoying games of 10-pin bowling. Come nightfall, the scene heats up as the kids go home and the socialites arrive, bringing with them lengthy waits for open tables and lanes. Friendly servers do their best not to interfere with any of the action. Kings’ calling card is bowling, spread out over 16 regulation-sized lanes. Pricey shoe rental and game fees mean the fun doesn’t come cheap, but never will you bowl in such a stylish, futuristic setting (computerized consoles enable players to track scores). I booked my husband’s 30th birthday at Game On and our party was in the lower-level bar. He’s a big baseball fan and we were able to watch the Red Sox game on a whole bunch of tv’s and had ample seating and tables for all our guests. Best of all, we had access to the visitor’s batting cage at Fenway Park and it just made for a fun and unique experience for everyone!The waitstaff went out of their way to offer me assistance throughout the night and were friendly and accommodating without being pushy. In addition, the management made it very easy to book the party and kept consistent communication with me throughout the whole planning process.Though the food was typical bar food that was not special or amazing in any specific way, there was plenty of it and the service was great. Plus, the bar downstairs was huge and the chef and waitstaff were great in helping me with the birthday cake, taking pictures for me, and allowing me to set up the room hours before the party.In short,
