The Broken Spoke is fun! It’s full of good ol’ fashion folk, they have great music Thursday-Saturday and there’s always someone to dance with. The dancing lessons are a waste of money, I’d recommed finding a regular to show ya how it’s done instead. I love this place, I’d give it five stars except they have the worst bartenders. Want to avoid lines at Amy’s, try coming at opening hours or during meal hours (11:30am-12:30pm, 5:30-7:00). People say we take a long time to make the ice cream, but we have to interact with every single customer and some people like to sample every flavor, WE CAN’T HELP IT! Also, if you get extraordinary service please write the employees name down on a comment card, we get bonuses for good behavior. Beyond that, every store has it’s own type of employees since the manager of that specific store does the hiring. If you don’t like the vibe you get from one store try another. For example: the Guad store will have your hipster college kids, the Arbor will have your more mall friendly types, Congress has the musician kids. Anyway, we don’t set the prices, we don’t have strawberry icec ream (we can make it with sweet cream and strawberries, and we don’t crush into tinies, and no it’s not a good way to get out aggression, and we don’t all play the drums. I went out with a group of friends to 300 Bowl and I was impressed by the facilites and staff at this bowling alley. I wasn’t impressed by the music for the fiday night RocknBowl, it was about 95% rap and we heard the same songs. The DJ clearly needs more variety. Other than that the place is top notch.
Our experience was great for my older children that can drive the cars and bumper boats. Paying for my 3,4 and 5 yr. olds was a waste of $45 since they can’t ride much and playing golf is too structured for a smaller child. Paying for myself was a waste as well since my kids were too small, I couldn’t take them on anything. No one lets you know these things prior to purchase. The pizza is bare and not that great, video games that are free are always broken. We will be going out for our 5th visit regardless,,,my older children love the laser tag and the cars, plus they’ll eat anything. If they like it, I love it.Pros + older children love the rides, laser tag. They feel independent.Cons – Nothing for the younger children, tell customers when they pay for a two yaer old that they can’t ride.
I like Wild Basin because it’s relatively close to town. It’s a step up from Austin’s greenbelts, but not quite as remote as somewhere like Enchanted Rock. One really neat thing is every halloween, volunteers make a haunted trail for kids and adults alike. It’s a lot of fun for the little ones and it’s a lot different than a haunted house because it is in a forest with that whole “Blair Witch” thing going.
