English has some of the tastiest burgers I’ve eaten in all my 17 years. You can choose between a standard sized one or you can order 4 mini burgers. Along with the meat, you are served good skinny fries that I ate all of. The food is all in all fills me up right. When you walk in and get situated, you sit on bar stools with a table or at the bar. I don’t really have a problem will the stools but sometimes if you want to get on and off and around, it gets annoying. The service did it’s job, although the guys would constantly be like RIGHT THERE, eyeing whether we were done with our food. Pros + Food, Merry atmosphereCons – possessive busboys

This is a fun place to experience the folksy foods of southern Germany. My family is from wine country in the central area (Frankfurt/Main) and further north in Germany, but we still get a kick out of the southern Bavarian ways. I’m not a fan of smoked chops personally, but other family members of mine love them. They are not dried out shoe leather like some smoked meats. They look juicy and tender. The schnitzels are my favorite. You can order them in the style of Holstein or Vienna. (traditional Vienner schnitzel). You are served a whole portion whether it’s a veal or chicken schnitzel. (schnitzel simply means medallion or cutlet). Our favorite appetizer is the Steak Tartare. They have some decent Rieslings on their wine menu too. It is a very happening place on weekends with live bands and this is one of the few places I can stand at a bar and speak German with just about everyone (although there is an amusing smattering of dialects) and the patrons and staff are very friendl

Club Foot is a great place for people watching! In back by the pool tables is a raised platform that is a great seat for checking out the scenester crowd. Punks with charged mohawks, Rudeboys, Emo/Indie kids, Wannabe-Dominatrixes, Skins, Rockabillys-you name it. The pompadoured DJ was spinning classic new-wave, punk, and rockabilly AND they have cheap PBR! The young crowd wasn’t very friendly (my boyfriend got the hairy eyeball by some rudeboys). That’s okay, I wasn’t there to make friends. I also got the feeling that most of the crowd were regulars to this corner bar.Pros + Inexpensive, Easy to find, Interesting crowd

After moving to Chicago only a few weeks ago, I’ve been looking for a neighborhood bar in which to share time with friends and classmates. Thankfully, my search has ended at the Woodlawn Tap bar just down the road from my apartment. I visited there last Sunday evening with my girlfriend, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The bar, while not empty, wasn’t filled to the brim with thirsty customers (which I appreciated greatly. There’s nothing worse when you go out than not being able to get a drink or find a seat in a bar!). I loved the decorum of the bar — old, black wood makes up the majority of the surfaces in the bar, giving it a comfortable, almost cave-like quality, and while music was playing (a mix of mid 90s and rap music), it didn’t disturb conversation. The staff was friendly and the drinks were stiff and cheap (I got a boiler-maker (a beer and a shot of bourbon), for about 6 dollars). They have a pretty good assortment of bar foods in large quantities for rea
