Where is the Best No-Cover Nightspot in Chicago, Illinois?
What can be said about an establishment as great as The Gin Mill? This is the only bar in Chicago that I have ever withessed two women getting it on in the mens bathroom. Go on Wednesdays for the 2$ Jack-you call it’s, and get a Jack Sour…best drink in the world. A Lincoln Park tradition. And dont forget, Lets Go State!Pros + Value, CrowdCons – Male Bartenders, Expensive Shots
Went to see a touring electro DJ set, pre-ordered tickets which is ALWAYS recommended, as the venue is small and apparantly had sold old early. they had to turn away lots of fans at the door. The second floor features the stage and a decent sized but intimate floor. we went to the 3rd level to watch. the bar upstairs was never crowded and has great prices. only problem is that if you’re there to WATCH the band, you need to get there early for good spots. only those surrounding the bannisters will be able to see. otherwise you’re left to listening and congregating, or going downstairs. will definitely keep an eye on upcoming acts and come again. great place for a live show!
AWESOME FOOD, DECOR AND SERVICE — cannot go wrong by going here.I tried this restaurant last night and it was amazing. We had the mango shrimp appetizer — it was so good… it was shrimp served witha light mango sauce… with chunky gaucamole on the side with a few chips –(the gaucamole had no onion)— it was super fresh and tasty! We then tried the pork tacos which were the best tacos I have ever had.We also got the shredded chicken tacos — also very very good. But I liked the pork better … which I usually would not order. The pork was seasoned so well — it really was the best meat I have ever tasted. Also, we got a pitcher of sangria for $4 — it was a special… served 6 glasses… Very good sangria — not sugary at all. This place is very inexpensive for the large amount of meat they put in the tacos (a dinner order is 2 tacos) — we each had 2 tacos and 3 shrimp and were pretty full… was $27 total (including Chicago’s outrageous tax). Really cheap for getti
While the old lava lounge was bigger, cheaper and a lot more fun, the new lava hasn’t lost all it’s good times. Every wednesday they do seminar ( a night devoted to drum n bass) and different genres of music on different nights of the week. The new lava has a very swanky look to it. I love this place cuz they support many different types of music besides top 40 and house music (which is overplayed in chicago clubs.) The staff could be a little more friendly and the drinks could be a little cheaper, but the cover charge isn’t bad considering the talent they bring in from across the world, as well as featuring great local talent. It’s not all that big so get there before it’s too packed to let more patrons in. All in all it is a bar I would recommend to friends. as for trendy guidos and tools I would recommend zentra, enclave or ontouragePros + music, soundsystem, locationCons – cost, service
