Where is the Best No-Cover Nightspot in Austin, Texas?
This bar is different from most any bar I can think of in town because it has people from all walks of life. People you might see at a preppy bar, gay bar, rocker bar all come together to enjoy great music (often a lot of 80s and Indie) in a very low key atmosphere. I am also totally hooked on Tito’s and Sweetos. This is Tito’s Vodka with Sweet Leaf tea. Anyone from the SF bay area might see a similarity of vibe with Zeitgeist in the mission district. Me likeskit!!!Pros + Great Location, Great People, Great Music, Great VibeCons – Lines at the bar, but thats true anywhere I guess
This is the hot new spot on West 6th! They make great cocktails and have cocktail waitresses for the back table area; I’m still working my way through their menu of unique sharing plates; and there is always a great crowd of fun, hip young professionals. I’ve been there a number of times for Happy Hours and ended up staying there the rest of the night. The atmosphere is so comfortable and they play great music, its hard to leave! And they have a VIP section set off to the side which is a great spot to reserve for a birthday party or group event (I brought my coworkers here a few weeks ago for a company HH)…has comfy seats, flat panel TVs but its not totally cut off from the rest of the bar — so you can still keep your eye on the cute guy/girl across the room! JBlacks has only been open for about 2 months but i think they’ve got staying power for this area and clientele. But because its still new, some weekend nights it draws a very large crowd, so dont get too frustrated if
The atmosphere is great…classic. The food…something is missing from everything they have…lacking the “umph”. The service outside is chaotic, unorganized, and slow. The drinks are served well…but overall the Belmont needs to focus on service…instead of trying to woo the crowds…great service keeps people coming automatically.Pros + AtmosphereCons – Average food, poor service
This place is pretty consistent and fun for the most part. I think it’s a little difficult to get around sometimes if they’re busy, especially up and down the stairs. But I really enjoy their rooftop bar it gives you a chance to get some fresh air and look out downtown. I usually come here with a few friends for drinks and then go out to a place where you can actually dance. Six is more of a place for pre-drinking and visiting. Drinks are nicely made too.
