I sinned- I have a great massage therapist, but I wanted to get a “spa” experience so I went here. Mistake! Ok, it looks nice, but it’s kinda busy and I felt rushed, and the massage- well it feels nice but didn’t real get much done.So, save the candles and foot bath for girl’s night out and get your massage from someone who knows what he’s doing- and doesn’t rush you through. I enjoyed my treatments with Doris; however, she is no longer there. There are a handful of new estheticians who have yet to reach potential. The front desk staff has made appointment errors with me and guests whom I invite to join me. However, the staff members acknowledged the errors, were apologetic, and compensated us graciously with bite-sized treatments. I once left a massage in pain due to the therapist’s technique. Luckily she no longer works there.On a positive note, Toddy, one of their more experienced estheticians, has a very calming presence. She is highly knowledgeable about foods and their effects on skin. I leave my facials feeling relaxed and with some new learning about diet and skin.I enjoy their spa events! I had been going to another salon for manicure’s and pedicures for sometime now (about 2 years) and always found it to be just a tad unsanitary. It was one of the places that has incense burning and debris on the floor. I had mentioned to a friend of mine back east the I was going to a salon for this procedure and asked me if the instruments were being sanitized or did I bring my own. Not knowing if the thier instruments were being sanitized after each use made me wonder if going back was a good idea. I’m borderline diabetic and need to take proper care of my feet and need a place that will sterilize instruments on every use. Upon entering American Male I felt like this was going to be a great experience. The environment was fabulous, bright and fresh and most of all very clean. We had gotten the manicure and pedicure combo and we were very much pleased that we were in a semi closed off room with a TV with remote.
