Where is the Best Morning-After Brunch in Portland, Oregon?

I took my friend to Tin Shed for breakfast on a Friday morning. Surprisingly there were a lot of people there, and quite a few waiting. They told us to help ourselves to coffee while we waited, which was nice. Our wait wasn’t super long since we opted to sit in the outside dining area (which had heaters above, so it wasn’t so bad even though it was just under 60 degrees outside at the time). Food was good, and came out pretty quickly. The prices weren’t cheap, but not ridiculous either. I’d come back. Pros + Friendly staff, good food, lots of vegetarian options.Cons – Parking could be an issue at times due to the neighborhood.

As it’s only a couple blocks from our home, we’ve been eating there regularly for three plus years. The food is solid, and the service usually good. Is it the greatest breakfast place? no. If you’re looking for a breakfast “event”, I wouldn’t choose it. But when we want a straight forward breakfast at an ok price, it’s our top choice. We almost never go to Tin Shed because by the time the food arrives, I’ve written a novel and eaten someone’s child. Helser’s is ready and willing to serve half portions of most anything and will make you most anything you ask for. Best is before 9 am, especially during the week, when Helser’s serves a limited menu of sane portions for a modest price.Pros + nice people, good location, amazing baconCons – noisy, busy on weekends

Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and boy am I glad I did. The nicest waitstaff, very knowledgable. Yes, it is a small menu but good and carefully considered(want a big menu – go to Applebee’s) and it does lean on meat more. The waitress told us that the chef had been a butcher and knew how to get the…

In addition to their full selection breakfast/lunch menu, the chalkboard specials are great. The scones, eggs, potatoes, and coffee were all fantastic. This place really knows how to give you a wide variety of options for a great breakfast experience.Pros + Very attentive service and quality foodCons – Small size

I give this place only 4 stars – because I left hungry and because I couldn’t order a glass of red wine for under $10 a glass. I was told that since Simpatica is associated with the Laurelhurst Market, a self contained butcher shop/restaurant, I could expect a generous serving of meat. Not true. I was hungry when I left. (I went next store to Biwa where I had a couple of hanger steak skewers for $3 each.)The meat, was excellent, Wagyu Bavette Steak, thin slices of buttery soft and delicious meat that had been with roasted on a mesquite fire, served with an outstanding Chimichurri sauce and perfectly cooked fingerling potatoes. Can’t complain about the flavor and the quality but the portion was not for the true carnivore. The night’s meal also featured two types of empanadas. One was filled with ground lamb and was outstanding. The other was butternut squash which had no additional spices to make the flavor more interesting than simple boiled squash. (Personally I would have
