Where is the Best Morning-After Brunch in Boston, Massachusetts?
I love Matt Murphy’s and I’ve taken many friends here for drinks and to listen to the local bands that they often have playing. However, the food is quite expensive, but then again it is pretty good. Try the the fish and chips! The decor has a really warm feeling and makes you really feel like you are in an traditional Pub. The room can get quite crowded on weekend nights, but that makes the experience all that much more fun. I’ve had many very random conversations! If you are in Brookline Village or are looking for a truly relaxed Pub with a semi-upclass feeling give Murphy’s a try.Pros + Food, atmosphere, drinksCons – Price of Food
You can’t go past the banana stuffed french toast here. It is a delicious breakfast option which is topped with fresh blueberries and strawberries, with maple syrup on the side. The coffee however was not the best, but this was made up by the excellent and friendly service. I have been here for dinner also, which was not quite as good. I ordered a hommous wrap, however was told that it was not on the menu (even though it was!) – this problem was rectified promptly and it ended up to be delicious. It is very, very busy and amazingly by 8.15am on Saturday morning, the delicatessen is full! A must try in Brookline!Pros + Great food, great serviceCons – Very busy, bad coffee
I worked there several years ago as a brunch server. I can tell you that the staff (chef, sous-chef, prep cooks, servers, etc.) at the time genuinely cared about quality and my coworkers and I worked our butts off during brunch. The fresh fruit, granola, omelets, etc. were really high-quality and very tasty. Another secret: The pancake batter isn’t just “like” Bisquick – it IS Bisquick. As far as waiting 45 minutes for a table, well, in a place with something like 14 tables, if you show up mid-brunch service, that’s what to expect! It’s a brunch town, folks.Pros + Brunch, location, atmosphere
Went to Lucky’s Lounge for the first time Monday night with one of my girlfriends. I live in Southie and they’re definitely getting a new regular in me. I had the steak tips and they were absolutely delicious, by far the best I’ve had in a while. The waitress was charming and took quite good care of us and that was even before she knew the it was our first time. When she did find out she explained about how they have live music on some nights. I’m already making plans to come in for Sinatra Sunday soon! It’s a great place to come in a just relax. My only cons are no live music on Mondays and I couldn’t find it at first (no sign) but later in the evening I realized that no sign is part of Lucky’s charm.Pros + No SignCons – No Sign, No live music on Mondays
The Paramount is kind of an unusual place. You go up and order first, move down the line to pay and get a drink, get your food, and then sit down. There is a huge sign on the wall that asks customers not to reserve seats while the rest of your party is ordering. You sit down after you get your food. I haven’t had a problem getting a seat. I’ve also never felt rushed eating there, though it’s definitely not a place to sit, drink coffee, read the paper and hang out for an hour. I’d say the staff aren’t particularly friendly but they are courteous. I’ve only been there for breakfast and the food seems pretty good. I’d rate the french toast as good but not fantastic. (I am a french toast fanatic though.) My fiance said that the omelet he had was one of the best he’s ever tasted. Pros + Food, fast service, quirky
