My husband and I had a terrible dining experience at Brasserie Jo the first time around. Even though it was advertised everywhere that they were participating in Restaurant Week on Sunday, we did not receive the menu for that. In addition, the waiter’s description of a seafood crepe was poor at best. The item was not at all as described, and contained many unexpected ingredients. I found shells in the seafood. My husband’s burger was ordered medium and was overcooked. The fries were soggy. After our food was dropped off, no one ever checked with us to ask how it was. We finally flagged down our waiter and asked for bread to sop up the soggy liquid in my crepe. He never returned with the bread. A woman nearby asked for the Restaurant Week menu and had to fight for it — a waiter came back to her table to argue 3 times before she received the menu. All this for the “bargain” price of $50. I left my address with the hostess, who apologized, but didn’t receive a call back. I called them an

My 3 fabulous supervisors decided to take me here for my 21st birthday lunch. These ladies work in the fashion & editorial industry, so I knew I wouldn’t be let down. Stephanie’s was so cute when I walked in, with all of it’s fancy decor and dim lighting. It was wintertime so I especially loved the fireplace and how there seemed to be endless amounts of booths (I always tend to request booths, they’re just comfier/more spacious). Our server was friendly and attentive, and she helped my supervisors decide what should be my first legal drink. An elegant and princess pink prosecco for me, haha. It was delicious. Strong bloody marys and various other drinks for the rest of the party (it was onlyabout noon, which adds bonus points to Stephanie’s for having a fully stocked bar promptly available that early). For my entree I ordered the grilled jumbo shrimp salad and it was delicious. It’s a very simple dish but you wouldn’t believe how easy it is to mess up/how many times I’ve been given ove

I’ve been to Sonsie maybe three or four times with different people and the food here is always good. It’s of course on the pricier end, but I’d say that almost every meal I’ve had here is worth every penny I paid for it, which for me is unusual. The service is usually pretty good and waitstaff are nice. With that said, the place does have a somewhat pretentious air about it, and many of the patrons seem rather snooty. The cafe area at the front of the restaurant feels somewhat cramped with tables being very small and a little too close to one another. I’ll have to try seating in the back sometime. All that said and done though, kudos to the chef, Bill Poirier. The food alone I give 5 stars. He knows how to take what seems to be the most random of flavors and ingredients and turn it into something incredible. It’s very obvious he cares a lot about each dish that leaves the kitchen and the satisfaction of every customer. Will definitely be eating here again. Pros + Food is worth ever

Ah, Border Cafe. I love that somehow, though I’m sure you are always swamped in the kitchen, that your proteins are always cooked perfectly – my food always arrives piping hot at the table, any the chicken always had a great sear on the outside, but is perfectly juicy on the inside. Next, don’t even get me started on the condiments/sauces! My favorites are the mango salsa – perfectly sweet mango cubes with just the right spicy/citrus-y bite to them, the perfectly sweet-spicy-garlicky chipotle lime glaze for the plantains, and the Cajun spiced marmalade, just to name a few. The tortilla chips here are not just a starter, they are a way of life – freshly fried throughout the day, they pair exceptionally well with the guacamole, which I would personally prefer a bit more on the chunky side, but that’s just me. As far as downsides – there are not a lot of exciting vegetarian options here. Most of the choices are heavy on cheese and light on creativity. I also almost always get not-the-best

This place has changed a lot. When we first started going here in 2002, or 2003, it was for the brunch. They had THE best breakfast pizza. I mean literally amazing, BUT the oven they made it in burned…
