Where is the Best Morning-After Brunch in Austin, Texas?
mesa ranch just moved into my neighborhood a couple months ago. at first i was a little sad to find out that one of my favorite asian restaurants had closed to make way for this new place, but since mesa ranch has opened, ive found myself frequenting the same building even more than before. my favorite thing ive had on the menu so far is the ancho pork tenderloin, its wrapped in bacon and comes with some slightly spicy mashed potatoes, really good. it does seem somewhat empty the times that ive been there, but i hope its just because its new and still getting a footing because its a nice addition to the area.
We were happy (and suprise) on Sat night I called at 730pm and got reservations at 8:30pm. Sure it’s summer but the economy has definitely opened up seating in our favorite places.Starlite was very nice, located downtown in the thick of all the fun. Valet the car and walk 3 doors down.You walk in to their hostess and a small bar scene of alterna-snob-service-industry types. But once you invade their territory you make it to the very nice and clean restaurant.The food was good – we enjoyed the oyster app, loved the tomato soup special (delicious) and then moved into main courses of a very nice seared tuna dish and the delicious lamb. Despite both of us having cauliflower side dished they were so different and excellent (the curry cauliflower was fantastic). We enjoyed the wine and Candide as well as the chocoilate dessert quite a bit.Really a nice spot, but expect to pay a little more than an average night out.
