Where is the Best Mexican Food in Providence, Rhode Island?
We arrived at about 1:30 PM on Sunday. The waitress was excellent and provided very quick and thoughtful service throughout our stay. The Salsa for the table was OK. Our lunches were good, but in a bland way. I would have expected more from a top restaurant.Pros + Great ServiceCons – Bland flavors.
I’ve been to the restaurant many times over the years dating back to it’s location near the Hurricane barrier, Richmond Street, and even the Smithfield location as well as the Allens Ave. site (Old HoJo). It’s been an odyssey with those longing for Richmond St, probably more enamored with the bar scene than the restaurant. Agree with some of the reviews on being a bit too pricey, but the food and service negative critiques don’t ring true for me. Good family restaurant, fast service, can be rather noisy, but well above average food. Especially good for the area which is full of over-sauced, over-seasoned chains. Price is not expensive, not fast-food cheap, either. I find portions to be well-sized (if not large). They can handle groups of 10 or so fairly well, and can get pretty busy during dinner.
