Where is the Best Mexican Food in Portland, Oregon?

As someone who has grown up with Mexican food as a staple – I was very excited to have found Si Senor. I drive out of my way to dine there. Usually one thing will stand out – chips are good but salsa isn’t – things like that. But at Si Senor – Chips and salsa are unique and incredibly tasty. The beans served with the chips have a nice spice to them. The many dishes I have tried have been simple, consistent and absolutely tasty. It’s mexican food done right. Try the Original Margarita – it’s dangerous- so good you wouldn’t know there’s alcohol in it. The wait staff are prompt, kind, courteous and always remember return customers.

We live near the Hawthorne location and all I can say is best taco place we have been to in the Pacific Northwest (which is not saying anything). Moved from California to Washington and was too close to the wrong border for good “mexican” food. Wasn’t expecting that to change when we moved to Portland, but was pleasantly surprised by Por Que No. The pescado taco is good but I love the pollo asado tacos (pollo verde is pretty good too). The guacamole has been consistently good and the people are really nice. They had a creamy roasted poblano hominy soup a few weeks ago that was killer. Tuesday nights are .50 off tacos and 1.00 off guac and chips. Pros + POLLO ASADO

I really like the food at Dingos. I’ve been going there for several years and I’ve always been able to overlook their inattentive service because the food is served piping hot and it’s fresh and tasty! I was there about a week ago and I’ve noticed that they’ve stopped giving complimentary chips and salsa. The chips & salsa weren’t the best, but they do make you wait quite a while to get your food so they really do need to provide the chips & salsa. They also now require you to ask for a glass of water, okay whatever, but know that you will also have to ask for every single refill – and that’s IF you’re lucky enough to catch the attention of your server and they usually seem to blatantly avoid you once the food is on your table. If they want to conserve tap water, fine, but their inattentive service is inexcusable. Most of the wait staff has always acted as if they were too cool to bother with customers, but I’m not paying any more money to support them. The menu prices re

I’ve been to Muu-muus a few times, so when we were deciding on a lated night dinner this Thursday during the holiday season, we both thought Muu-Muus was just what we were looking for. We walked in and were surprised that even though people were smoking, it smoke in the air wasn’t as bad as other bars (a plus). The atmosphere was great, good music playing, many people inside, but we didn’t feel like sardines in a can (a plus). After sitting down we ordered a peppermint patty (delicious winter drink) and something resembling a mojito which both came promptly and tasted great (two pluses). Our server was very nice, attentive, and helpful (plus). Food came very quickly and was yummy (plus). HOWEVER, just after our food was set on the table, the music changed from a nice worldly tune to “Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo.” (This is a song about a piece of holiday feces that talks, walks, and sings in the cartoon show South Park). Not the kind of song you want to listen to while eating.

I love the food in this place and cannot imagine those who do not like the food. It is fresh, tasty, consistent . . . just overall excellent. The happy hour street taco is one of my favorites (the veggie one), the tortilla soup, goat cheese quesa,, etc, etc. chips and salsa are excellent! Go with several friends and enjoy! Sometimes, not usually, the service might be less attentive, but over the years, I have usually found it to be excellent. The margaritas are great. If you like it less sweet tell them you like it on the sour side!I do wish they would have afternoon hours and Sunday would be great, but understand they may not be able to be open all hours and days. Pros + Pleasant, especially in summer outside or in.Cons – Hours/days open; parking (take the bus)
