My fiance from the Eastcoast and I absolutely LOVE this place!!!!!!! I cannot put into words how romantic and FUN this place is. Whenever he is in town, our weekend ritual is: 1)Drive to Saba, 2) check the car in at the Valet, find our favorite secret spot (we have 2 and I’m not telling). 3) I order the Fresh Mint Mojito and he orders water with the crusted shrimp appetizer, 4) I order the grilled Talapia with Jasmin rice instead of the pinneapple rice & he orders the steak dinner. 5) We both praise how wonderful Saba is and marvel at the excellent customer service from all waitresses and staff. One time, the owner offered to make arrangements for my guy to access cash from his card, in order to pay valet. He went above and beyond to make it happen and we’ve been patrons ever since!Their Mojitos are the BEST here! And the fun part kicks in as we wait for our car outside and listen and dance to whatever live band is playing in the neigboring courtyard. WE BOTH LOVE YOU SO MUC

Maudies Lake Austin is one of my all-time favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin. They have consistantly good food (with a few misses here and there), and with a few exceptions, I have experienced generally good service. I get a lot of take-out orders from them, and the only thing I would suggest is that they improve on fulfilling take-out orders. Many times I have gotten home only to discover they left off the rice and beans that I ordered, or put in flour instead of corn tortillas, or whatever. Not enough to get upset over, but still, it’s just one more little hassle. I forgave their constant mistakes when they were going through all the construction and remodeling – now it’s time to step up to the plate a bit more. But all in all, a good Tex-Mex place!Pros + Relaxed atmosphere, reasonably priced.Cons – Take-out orders can be wrong on a regular basis – check it before you leave.

The chips and Bob queso were awesome! The kids Tacos lacked some flavor but most kids would find them right on the money. I prefer the migas which were bursting with flavor with the right balance of crunch and ooze. Mom would not switch plates with me so I had to be happy with three bites. The kid bean cheese nachos were good..but then not good enough to get more than a 1 shrimp trade of my dad’s Shrimp Ala Matt Martniez which was nicely flavored and grilled. Sis had a plate of beautiful melted yummy cheese enchiladas and rice and beans which she devoured( high praise from the non-eater) The service was amazing very friendly and attentive without being cloying(my new word this week 🙂 )…the pralines to go were a fun little bonus. Pros + great service, good kids menu, locally owned

Went here on a Saturday night recently… couldn’t believe that there is no bar in there to sit at. You can sit outside on an inviting patio for dinner but in order to wait for a table and have a drink, you have to sit outside ON A BENCH. Some families were waiting to be seated next to 4 guys drinking and talking loudly… Not really appropriate to sit outside next to kids while you’re drinking but there’s no where else to wait! Inside is just ok.. Wasn’t busy at all for an inside table at 7 on a Saturday night. so we skipped the drink on the bench and headed inside. Took 10 minutes for someone to greet us and order a drink. Another 15 to tbring our drinks, take our order, or even see if we had questions or mention the specials. The menus were disguesting, with old food stuck in between the plastic and the paper, and what looked like mold growing in between them. Yech.I threw back my mexican martini and ordered the the stuffed Pablano pepper which was pretty fresh and the pork was t
