Where is the Best Mexican Food in Austin, Texas?
Our first visit yesterday was a very pleasant surprise–the $6.49 lunch menu, which includes iced tea with all options, was not your typical tacos or cheese enchiladas. I ordered the chicken enchilada with poblano sauce, and my companion ordered the spinach verde option, both were delicious! I appreciate a Mexican restaurant that provides a homemade salsa (theirs had chunks fresh onion and chopped cilantro), good ‘corny’ tortilla chips (not greasy), pleasant Mexican music playing (adds to the atmosphere), brewed iced tea, a pre-heated plate to keep the food warm, and a pleasant waitstaff. La Feria was on target with all of the above. My enchiladas were packed with shredded chicken, smothered with a intense green, creamy poblano sauce and topped with a little melted jack cheese, refried beans were good and the Spanish rice was average–all was served hot and prompt. The spinach enchildas were swimming in a nice verde sauce, and topped with cheese, accompanied with black bean
Im new in town and Pappasitos is one of the restaurants near my hotel. First I looked at the menu on their web-site, it looked very interesting. So the other night I walked over its just a couple of doors down. Parking lot looked crowed but after walking up to the door and being greeted, I saw that even though the parking lot was full the inside had more than enough room and no wait. So I set my self down and was immediately greeted by Brianna, who is a nice, cheerful young lady, with salsa and chips. I was looking at the drink menu and ask her what her favorite was and she said that they were all good, but she preferred the Horny Toad Margarita which is reasonably priced ($7.95) and when served was quite delicious; I actually had two that evening. Next the Chile con Queso (Medium) for $5.45, was very good you can order a large size and add either spicy ground beef or beef fajita to it for an extra price. For my entree, I decided to go with the Guadalajara Platiollos Combina
This is a customer service review since that was what stood out most during my recent visit to Manuel’s with my boyfriend and another couple. The service and food were both very good. However, one of the people I was with objected to the preparation of one of his dishes and let the waitress know in the rudest way possible. The tone and content of his complaint was intended to make himself out to be an expert on mexican food (which he most certainly is *not*) and to make the waitress out to be someone who doesn’t know her job. I was too stunned to say anything to him at the time (pretty sure it wouldn’t have helped and might have made it worse). To her great credit, the waitress was very gracious and accommodating. So not only are the food and wine very good, the service is beyond professional and gracious.
